Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common digestive disorder observed in clinics. Current studies suggest that the pathogenesis of the disease is closely related to abnormal brain-gut interactions, hypokinesia, visceral sensory hypersensitivity in the gastrointestinal tract, and alterations in the intestinal microenvironment. However, it is difficult for a single factor to explain the heterogeneity of symptoms.

Objective: Patellofemoral arthritis is a common type of knee osteoarthritis and a prime cause of anterior knee pain and disability. Most of the existing research on knee osteoarthritis focuses on tibial-femoral arthritis, while studies on patellofemoral arthritis are relatively rare. This study aims to observe changes in osteochondral and subchondral bone structure over time in the patella and femoral trochlea in an animal model of spontaneous patellofemoral arthritis.

Advances in cellular senescence in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (Review).

Exp Ther Med

April 2023

Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, The Second Hospital of Jilin University, Changchun, Jilin 130000, P.R. China.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive, irreversible and fatal interstitial lung disease of unknown cause, with a median survival of 2-3 years. Its pathogenesis is unclear and there is currently no effective treatment for IPF. Approximately two-thirds of patients with IPF are >60 years old, with a mean age of 66 years, suggesting a link between aging and IPF.

Several clinical trials have demonstrated that glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) reduce the incidence of non-fatal myocardial infarction (MI) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. In this study, we applied a network pharmacology method to investigate the mechanisms by which GLP-1RAs reduce MI occurrence in patients with T2DM.

Colloidal nanocrystals (NCs) play an important role in the field of optoelectronic devices such as photovoltaic cells, photodetectors, and light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The properties of NC films are strongly affected by ligands attached to them, which constitute a barrier for charge transport between adjacent NCs. Therefore, the method of surface modification by ligand exchange has been used to improve the electrical conductivity of NC films.

The molecular mechanism of network regulation in the occurrence and development of colorectal cancer (CRC) has been constantly improved. Here, we investigated the biological effects of TEAD4-MAD2L1 axis on proliferation and metastasis of human CRC cells. This study revealed that the expressions of MAD2L1 and TEAD4 in CRC tissues and CRC cell lines were significantly higher than those in adjacent epithelial tissues and normal intestinal epithelial cell line NCM460, and their expressions were significantly positively correlated; Moreover, inhibiting the expression of MAD2L1 or TEAD4 can inhibit the proliferation and migration of CRC cells and promote apoptosis.
