The reaction of Ru(CO) with ferrocene-containing alkynyl ketones FcC[triple bond, length as m-dash]CC(O)R (Fc = ferrocenyl; R = Ph (1); 2-thienyl (2); 4-CHO-Ph (3); 4-NH-Ph (4); 4-NO-Ph (5); ferrocenyl (6)) proceeds in toluene with the formation of triruthenium clusters (1a-6a), ruthenoles (1b-5b, 5c and 1d-5d) and unexpected 1,2-CO-inserted triruthenium clusters (1c-4c). 1a-6a were isolated from the reaction of Ru(CO) with one equivalent of 1-6, respectively. Ruthenoles 1b-5b, 5c and 1d-5d were collected by adding 1-5 to the corresponding 1a-5a in a molar ratio of 1 : 1, respectively.

A novel solid-phase microextraction fiber coated with a porous β-cyclodextrin polymer was developed. The porous β-cyclodextrin polymer cross-linked using tetrafluoroterephthalonitrile, possessed well-distributed pores and the largest surface area among current β-cyclodextrin polymers. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that the coating had a continuous wrinkled and folded structure, which guarantees a sufficient loading capacity for contaminants.

Organic-inorganic hybrid halide perovskites are proven to be a promising semiconductor material as the absorber layer of solar cells. However, the perovskite films always suffer from nonuniform coverage or high trap state density due to the polycrystalline characteristics, which degrade the photoelectric properties of thin films. Herein, the alkali metal ions which are stable against oxidation and reduction are used in the perovskite precursor solution to induce the process of crystallization and nucleation, then affect the properties of the perovskite film.

Herein, we present the synthesis of Ag-Au bimetallic nanocomposites stabilized with organic-inorganic hybrid microgels. The aim is to get both the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and catalytic performance of the composite material can be changed in response to external stimuli. Ag@poly(-isopropylacrylamide--3-methacryloxypro-pyltrimethoxysilane) (Ag@P(NIPAM--MAPTMS)) hybrid microgels were synthesized by seed-emulsion polymerization using Ag nanoparticles (NPs) as the core and NIPAM/MAPTMS as monomers.

N-Donor ligand activation of titanocene for the Biginelli reaction the imine mechanism.

RSC Adv

February 2018

Key Laboratory of Applied Surface and Colloid Chemistry, MOE, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Shaanxi Normal University Xi'an 710062 China +86-29-81530727.

The remarkable activation of stable titanocene dichloride (CpTiCl) was achieved using N-donor ligand urea in an alcoholic solvent, leading to the formation of a Ti(iv) species [(MeO)Ti(NHCONH)], the existence of which was verified by ESI-MS, ESI-MS/MS, and NMR. Catalyzed by the newly formed Ti(iv) species, a myriad of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-(1)-ones were produced a three-component Biginelli reaction. Further mechanistic investigation indicated that the Biginelli reaction had taken place the imine route.

Fading and showing mechanisms of ancient color relics based on light scattering induced by particles.

RSC Adv

January 2018

Engineering Research Center of Historical and Cultural Heritage Protection, Ministry of Education, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Shaanxi Normal University Xi'an 710062 China +86-029-81530717.

Fading and showing mechanisms of ancient color paintings based on light scattering induced by particles were proposed. To confirm the mechanisms, simulated and application experiments were carried out to restore an ancient blurred color painting. Loading TiO particles (500-1000 nm) onto a piece of colored paper could result in blurring of the color of the paper, which is attributed to light scattering caused by air voids between the particles.

Low-molecular-mass organic gelator (LMOG)-based molecular gels are known as one of the most attractive soft materials and have received great attention since the early 1990s. In the last few decades, many LMOGs have been synthesized, and a series of theories have been proposed to better understand molecular gels. However, only limited applications of LMOGs have been realized for a variety of reasons, such as their lack of stability compared to chemical gels.
