As a new form of regulated cell death, cuproptosis differs profoundly from apoptosis, ferroptosis, pyroptosis, and necroptosis. The correlation between cuproptosis and long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) has been increasingly studied recently. In this study, a novel cuproptosis-related lncRNA prognostic signature was developed to investigate biochemical recurrence (BCR) and tumor immune landscape in prostate cancer (PCa).

Periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) are considered ideal cell sources for the regeneration of periodontal and alveolar bone tissue. Cytoskeleton Regulator RNA (), a newly discovered long noncoding RNA, has been reported to function as competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) and to be involved in many biological processes. However, its roles in PDLSC osteogenic differentiation remain unclear.

With an increasing number of patients experiencing infertility due to chronic salpingitis after (CT) infection, there is an unmet need for tissue repair or regeneration therapies. Treatment with human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles (hucMSC-EV) provides an attractive cell-free therapeutic approach. In this study, we investigated the alleviating effect of hucMSC-EV on tubal inflammatory infertility caused by CT using animal experiments.

The dense extracellular matrix (ECM) is a key barrier to tumor infiltration of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs), which greatly compromises T cell-dependent immunotherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Herein, hyaluronidase (HAase), IL-12, and anti-PD-L1 antibody (αPD-L1) were co-delivered using a pH and MMP-2 dual-sensitive polymer/calcium phosphate (CaP) hybrid nanocarrier. The dissolution of CaP triggered by tumor acidity facilitated the release of IL-12 and HAase responsible for ECM digestion, enhancing the tumor infiltration and proliferation of CTLs.

The regeneration ability of intestinal epithelium is degenerated in aging. The determining factor is leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein-coupled receptor 5-positive intestinal stem cells (Lgr5 ISCs). Lgr5-EGFP (enhanced green fluorescence protein) knock-in in transgenic mice at three different ages (young group: 3-6 months; middle group: 12-14 months; old group: 22-24 months) were used to examined Lgr5 ISCs at three different timepoints.

Diabetic cardiomyopathy is a primary myocardial injury induced by diabetes with complex pathogenesis. In this study, we identify disordered cardiac retinol metabolism in type 2 diabetic male mice and patients characterized by retinol overload, all-trans retinoic acid deficiency. By supplementing type 2 diabetic male mice with retinol or all-trans retinoic acid, we demonstrate that both cardiac retinol overload and all-trans retinoic acid deficiency promote diabetic cardiomyopathy.

Acetaminophen (APAP) overdose is the most common cause for acute liver failure (ALF) in the developed countries, with limited treatment options. Piezo1 is a mechanosensitive cation channel. We found that APAP caused upregulation of Piezo1 in both an APAP-induced acute liver injury (ALI) animal model and a mouse hepatocyte cell line AML12.

Tobacco smoke exposure is a major environmental risk factor that facilitates the development and progression of asthma. Our previous study showed that CpG oligodeoxynucleotide (CpG-ODN) inhibits thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP)-dendritic cells (DCs) to reduce Th2/Th17-related inflammatory response in smoke-related asthma. However, the mechanism underlying CpG-ODN -downregulated TSLP remains unclear.

Background: Gastric cancer (GC) is a serious threat to human health. The clinical GC characteristics in China may be impacted by changes in people's lifestyles and the promotion of early GC (EGC) screening. The present study aims to evaluate the recent trends of GC characteristics in South China and search for hazardous factors limiting the survival time of GC patients.

Background: Mild-temperature photothermal therapy (mild PTT) is a safe and promising tumor therapeutic modality by alleviating the damage of healthy tissues around the tumor due to high temperature. However, its therapeutic efficiency is easily restricted by heat shock proteins (HSPs). Thus, exploitation of innovative approaches of inhibiting HSPs to enhance mild PTT efficiency is crucial for the clinical application of PTT.

Background: Although the overall global incidence of gastric cancer has been declining, the number of new cases in people under the age of 50 is increasing, which is related to metastasis, late pathological stages, and poor prognosis. There is a scarcity of large-scale studies to evaluate and predict distant metastasis in patients with early-onset gastric cancer.
Methods: From January 2010 to December 2019, data on early-onset GC patients undergoing surgery were gathered from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database.

L-asparaginase, which hydrolyzes asparagine into aspartic acid and ammonia, is frequently used to treat acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in children. When combined with other chemotherapy drugs, the event-free survival rate is 90%. Due to immunogenicity and drug resistance, however, not all patients benefit from it, restricting the use of L-asparaginase therapy in other haematological cancers.

M1/M2 polarization transitions of microglial phenotypes determine the states of neuroinflammation, which is critical in the pathophysiology of diabetic encephalopathy. This study aims to investigate the effects of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) on the microglial polarization state, the role of miR-146a-5p in the regulation of microglial polarization, and the underlying signaling pathways. BV-2 cells were incubated with N-ε-carboxymethyl lysine (CML), one kind of Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs), to induce polarization.

Breast cancer (BC) is the most commonly diagnosed form of cancer and a leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women worldwide. Yes-associated protein (YAP) and transcriptional coactivator with PDZ-binding motif (TAZ) are homologous transcriptional coactivators and downstream effectors of Hippo signalling. YAP/TAZ activation has been revealed to play essential roles in multiple events of BC development, including tumour initiation, progression, metastasis, drug resistance and stemness regulations.

However, the relationship between eosinophilic and neutrophilic inflammation in Chinese patients with CRSwNP remains largely unknown. We aimed to further characterize the correlation between neutrophils with eosinophils in relation to clinical characters and disease control status after endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS).

As one of the leading cases of acute liver failure triggered by excessive Acetaminophen (APAP), breakdown of the antioxidant system, inflammatory response, and inescapable apoptosis following overaccumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) play crucial roles in the mechanisms of APAP-induced liver injury (AILI). Therefore, cutting off ROS overproduction at the source is considered promising. Here, manganese Prussian blue nanozymes (MPBZs) with superior antioxidant enzyme-like activity are prepared as an effective strategy for hepatocyte protection, in which MPBZs accumulated in the liver show anti-oxidation properties by scavenging superfluous ROS.
