To answer this question, a novel method, which applied geometric and morphometric shape analysis to landmarks obtained from MRI data, was used.

Introduction: This study compared the Salzmann Index (SI) to the American Association of Orthodontists-proposed Automatic Qualifying Conditions (AQC) list in determining eligibility for medically necessary orthodontic care (MNOC). In Pennsylvania, The SI must reflect a score of ≥25, whereas the AQCs are considered binary indicators of a treatment need-the presence of any AQC qualifies a patient for treatment under Medicaid. This study was designed to determine whether the same patients are selected as eligible for MNOC regardless of which selection method is used.

Aim: Both an acute bout of resistance exercise (RE) and caffeine consumption can significantly alter hemodynamics, autonomic modulation, and arterial stiffness, which may correlate with adverse cardiovascular events. However, effects of an acute bout of RE and caffeine are unclear in resistance-trained women.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of an acute bout of RE with repetitions to failure on squat and bench press, with or without caffeine, on performance, resting and recovery measures of hemodynamics, autonomic modulation, as well as arterial stiffness in resistance-trained women.

Unfortunately, our understanding of the origin of blinking has been limited by a lack of known anatomical correlates of the behavior in the fossil record and a paucity of comparative functional studies.

Adaptation and factor structure of three psychometric instruments measuring behavioral aspects of medication prescribing in physician assistants.

Objectives: (1) Present the factor structure of two psychometric instruments for self-efficacy and one for outcome expectations of medication prescribing; (2) evaluate the reliability of the scales, and (3) present preliminary evidence of validity.

Methods: Physician assistants (PA) and PA students completed a survey evaluating three psychometric instruments: (1) Self-Efficacy in Prescribing (SEP), (2) Self-Efficacy in Prescribing-Geriatric (SEPG), and (3) Outcomes Expectations of Prescribing Errors (OEP). Students also evaluated 3 hypothetical prescriptions, two of which contained a prescribing error.

Refugees remain vulnerable to acute food insecurity, malnutrition, and critically inadequate food and nutrient intake after migration, regardless of the economic level of the host country. We conducted this systematic review to summarize and evaluate the dietary intake and nutritional status among refugees resettled in non-camp settings worldwide. We searched PubMed and Web of Science databases to review relevant studies published between 2009 and 2020 using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines.

Eco-evolutionary causes and consequences of rarity in plants: a meta-analysis.

Species differ dramatically in their prevalence in the natural world, with many species characterized as rare due to restricted geographic distribution, low local abundance and/or habitat specialization. We investigated the ecoevolutionary causes and consequences of rarity with phylogenetically controlled metaanalyses of population genetic diversity, fitness and functional traits in rare and common congeneric plant species. Our syntheses included 252 rare species and 267 common congeners reported in 153 peer-reviewed articles published from 1978 to 2020 and one manuscript in press.

Background: Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is an arbovirus that periodically emerges to cause large epidemics of arthritic disease. Although the robust immunity elicited by live-attenuated virus (LAV) vaccine candidates makes them attractive, CHIKV vaccine development has been hampered by a high threshold for acceptable adverse events.

Methods: We evaluated the vaccine potential of a recently described LAV, skeletal muscle-restricted virus (SKE), that exhibits diminished replication in skeletal muscle due to insertion of target sequences for skeletal muscle-specific miR-206.

Introduction: This study aimed to assess the relationship between 3 indexes of orthodontic treatment need that are used by Medicaid, namely the Salzmann Index (SI), the handicapping labiolingual deviation (HLD) Index, and the HLD California Modification Index, and oral health-related quality of life (OHRQOL).

Methods: The orthodontic records of 100 participants aged 11-14 years were used to calculate occlusal index scores. The condition-specific oral impacts on daily performances (OIDP) index questionnaire was used to quantify OHRQOL and to identify detriments attributable to malocclusion-related conditions (MRCs).
