Cervical cancer remains a major global health concern, with a specially alarming incidence in younger women. Traditional detection techniques such as the Pap smear and colposcopy often lack sensitivity and specificity and are highly dependent on the experience of the gynaecologist. In response, this study proposes the use of Hyperspectral Imaging, a pioneering technology that combines traditional imaging with spectroscopy to provide detailed spatial and spectral information.

Introduction: Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is an emerging tick-borne viral disease. It has been described in Spain in both ticks and humans. Until July 2024 most cases have been described in the central-western part of the Iberian Peninsula.

Secondary intention healing after Mohs micrographic surgery: an updated review of classic and novel applications, benefits and complications.

Although secondary intention healing (SIH) is a fundamental aspect of postoperative care following Mohs micrographic ssurgery (MMS), it is currently underutilized. SIH constitutes a safe, cost-effective, and versatile method for wound closure. SIH offers multiple advantages, including enhanced cancer surveillance, reduced pain, and promosing esthetic outcomes, particularly not only on certain anatomical regions such as the medial canthus, antihelix, temple, or alar crease, but also for relatively small and superficial defects on the eyelids, ears, lips, and nose, including the alar region, and defects on the hands dorsal regions.

Therefore, we conducted a retrospective cohort study with psoriatic patients undergoing systemic treatment to analyze the value of the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index in predicting the development of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE).

Efficacy and Safety of a Desensitization Treatment With Rituximab and Immunoglobulin in Hyperimmunized Patients Awaiting a Cadaveric Kidney Transplantation.

Background: Patients on a kidney transplant waiting list with antibodies against more than 80% of a panel reactive antibody (PRA) are difficult to transplant, even with national or regional programs. Desensitization treatment with high-dose intravenous immunoglobulin and rituximab could be offered to patients with a long waiting time for a cadaveric donor to improve their odds of finding a kidney.

Methods: This was a retrospective, single-center study including all hyperimmunized patients on the waiting list for a cadaveric kidney donor who received a desensitization treatment between 2010 and 2020.

[Successful removal of penicillin allergy label in a tertiary hospital in Paraguay].

Objective: To develop a treatment algorithm for patients with penicillin allergy.

Methods: Retrospective study, carried out in adult patients with penicillin allergy, who were in group 3 or 4 of the established classification, and attended the outpatient clinic of the Department of Pulmonology and Allergy of the Central Hospital of the Social Security Institute, between January 2021 and December 2022. Each patient underwent an amoxicillin provocation test, after obtaining informed consent.

Splenic artery pseudoaneurysms represent one of the most feared vascular complications of chronic pancreatitis. Sectional imaging studies such as computed tomography represent the first-line diagnostic tool for this pathology, being found as an incidental finding in patients with risk factors. We report the case of a splenic artery pseudoaneurysm in a 55-year-old patient diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis.
