Magnetic resonance enterography is primarily indicated for inflammatory bowel diseases. The study of the gastrointestinal tract using MRI has become feasible due to the emergence of ultrafast sequences with higher spatial resolution and phased-array coils enabling wider fields of view. However, to ensure the quality of the examination, it is essential to have prior preparation with oral or rectal contrast to distend the lumen and improve the definition of the intestinal wall.

Introduction: Malnutrition has always been a problem in CF (cystic fibrosis) patients; however, new treatments with CFTR (cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator protein) modulators have led to weight gain, with some patients at risk of overweight and obesity.
Objective: Our study aimed to analyze the evolution of BMI (body mass index) after one year of treatment with triple therapy and the factors associated with weight gain in CF patients undergoing treatment with triple therapy with CFTR protein modulators (ETI) (elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor).
Methods: We conducted a prospective, observational, longitudinal, multicenter study in patients diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, aged 18 years or older, with at least one F508del allele and who underwent ETI therapy for at least one year, from 2020 to 2023.

High-level delafloxacin-resistant (H-L DLX-R) isolates (minimum inhibitory concentration ≥1 mg/L) associated with mutations affecting position 84 of ParC have emerged. We aimed to elucidate the role of these mutations as a mechanism of H-L DLX resistance in methicillin-resistant (MRSA) isolates recovered from blood cultures. Susceptibility to DLX was determined in 75 MRSA isolates by E-test, and an rt-PCR was developed to detect mutations affecting position 84 of ParC to screen a further 185 MRSA isolates.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a prevalent neurodegenerative disorder characterized by cognitive decline and neuropathological hallmarks, including β-amyloid (Aβ) plaques, Tau tangles, synaptic dysfunction and neurodegeneration. Emerging evidence suggests that abnormal iron (Fe) metabolism plays a role in AD pathogenesis, but the precise spatial distribution of the Fe and its transporters, such as ferroportin (FPN), within affected brain regions remains poorly understood. This study investigates the distribution of Fe and FPN in the CA1 region of the human hippocampus in AD patients with a micrometer lateral resolution using laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS).

Introduction: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are one of the leading causes of multidrug-resistance (MDR) spread and infection-related deaths. is by far the main causative agent. We conducted a prospective study on complicated urinary tract infections (cUTIs) i) to monitor the high-risk clones that could be compromising the therapeutic management and ii) to compare the cUTI etiology with uncomplicated infections (uUTIs) occurring in the same period and health area.

The emergence of convergent strains showing multiresistance, characteristic of nosocomial pathotypes and hypervirulent traits typical of community-acquired isolates, makes them important models for studying pathogenesis. Here, we describe the convergent, multidrug-resistant KLEB-33 strain harboring several hypervirulence genes and make its genome available to the scientific community.

Given the increasing incidence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Klebsiella pneumoniae infections, it is of great interest to investigate the risk of transmission associated with the prevalence of this pathogen. Some studies have described fresh raw poultry meat as a reservoir of MDR K. pneumoniae, including clinically relevant sequence types (ST) and extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) strains, indicating possible consumer exposure.

Schizophrenia (SCH) and bipolar disorder (BD) are two of the most important psychiatric pathologies due to their high population incidence and disabling power, but they also present, mainly in their debut, high clinical similarities that make their discrimination difficult. In this work, the differential oxidative stress, present in both disorders, is shown as a concatenator of the systemic alterations-both plasma and erythrocyte, and even at the level of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC)-in which, for the first time, the different affectations that both disorders cause at the level of the cellular interactome were observed. A marked erythrocyte antioxidant imbalance only present in SCH generalizes to oxidative damage at the plasma level and shows a clear impact on cellular involvement.

is the main cause of urinary tract infections (UTI). While genomic comparison of specific clones recovered from animals, and human extraintestinal infections show high identity, studies demonstrating the uropathogenicity are lacking. In this study, comparative genomics combined with bladder-cell and biofilm formation assays, were performed for 31 of different origins: 7 from meat (poultry, beef, and pork); 2 from avian-farm environment; 12 from human uncomplicated UTI, uUTI; and 10 from human complicated UTI, cUTI.

Given the relatively recent introduction of burosumab in the management of X-linked hypophosphatemia (XLH), there is limited real-world data to guide its use in clinical practice. As a group of European physicians experienced with burosumab treatment in clinical practice, we convened with the objective of sharing these practice-based insights on the use of burosumab in children and adolescents with XLH. We attended two virtual meetings, then discussed key questions Within3, a virtual online platform.
