There is no international consensus on the definition of the type of oncological resection that corresponds to each of the colectomies existing in the current literature. The objective is to define for each colectomy described in the literature: embryological dissection plane, vascular pedicles in which to perform central ligation, the extent of the colectomy, and the need for resection of the greater momentum. A consensus of experts is carried out through the Delphi methodology through two rounds from the Coloproctology Section of the Spanish Association of Surgeons.

Objective: The increase in the demand for healthcare caused by COVID-19 implies a lower availability of health resources and influences the appropriateness of their use. Due to the variability of demand during the pandemic, the study aimed to compare the appropriateness of hospital admissions between the 2 and 5 phases of the pandemic according to the criteria of the Hospital Emergency Service (CiHRyC). These results were compared with those obtained according to the Pneumonity Severity Index (FINE) and the Appropriateness Evaluation Protocol (AEP).

Background: The optimal length of stay (LOS) in patients hospitalized for acute heart failure (AHF) remains controversial. Plasma antigen carbohydrate 125 (CA125) has emerged as a reliable proxy of congestion. We aimed to evaluate whether there is a differential impact of LOS on the risk of 6-month AHF readmission across CA125 levels.

Objective: To analyse the susceptibility to ceftolozane-tazobactam and comparators in Enterobacterales and Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates recovered from intraabdominal (IAI), urinary (UTI), respiratory (RTI) and bloodstream infection (BSI) in the SMART (Study for Monitoring Antimicrobial Resistance Trends) study.
Methods: The susceptibility of 5,351 isolates collected in 11 Spanish hospitals (2016-2018) were analysed (EUCAST-2020 criteria) by broth microdilution and were phenotypically studied for the presence of extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBL). Ceftolozane-tazobactam and/or carbapenem resistant isolates were genetically characterized for ESBL and carbapenemases.

Background: In phenylketonuria (PKU), weaning is considered more challenging when compared to feeding healthy infants. The primary aim of weaning is to gradually replace natural protein from breast milk or standard infant formula with solids containing equivalent phenylalanine (Phe). In addition, a Phe-free second stage L-amino acid supplement is usually recommended from around 6 months to replace Phe-free infant formula.
