Patient-specific implant placement in the case of pelvic tumour resection is usually a complex procedure, where the planned optimal position of the prosthesis may differ from the final location. This discrepancy arises from incorrect or differently executed bone resection and improper final positioning of the prosthesis. In order to overcome such mismatch, a navigation solution is presented based on an augmented reality application for HoloLens 2 to assist the entire procedure.

Mild behavioral impairment in the general population aged 55+ and its association with incident dementia.

Alzheimers Dement (Amst)

October 2024

Departamento de Medicina, Psiquiatría y Dermatología, Facultad de Medicina Universidad de Zaragoza Zaragoza Spain.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined the link between mild behavioral impairment (MBI) and dementia risk in older adults, following 4,803 individuals over 4.5 years.
  • It found that in cognitively normal participants, decreased motivation—an MBI domain—was linked to a significantly increased risk of all-cause dementia.
  • The researchers suggest decreased motivation might indicate a higher dementia risk, but more studies are needed to explore the relationship between MBI and various types of dementia.

Prostheses or implantable medical devices (IMDs) are parts made of natural or artificial materials intended to replace a body structure and therefore must be well tolerated by living tissues. The types of IMDs currently available and usable are very varied and capable of replacing almost any human organ. A high but imprecise percentage of Spaniards are carriers of one or more IMDs to which they often owe their quality of life or survival.
