In our previous study, three genes highly expressed in the roots of wheat were screened. To explore the effects of adverse stresses on the wheat root phenotype and the expression of , and , we measured the phenotypic parameters of the JM22 root system at the seedling stage after treatment with different concentrations of NaCl and PEG6000. Additionally, the relative expression levels of TaPSK3, TaPSK9, and TaPSK10 were analyzed via RT-qPCR within 72 h of treatment with 150 mM NaCl and 30% PEG6000.

In this study, two phosphorus-based flame retardants diethylenetriamine trimethyl diphosphonate lysine (APTA) and a tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium sulfate prepolymer with urea (DUPT) were synthesized. The structures of these compounds were characterized via nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). FTIR and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses revealed that DUPT crosslinked APTA onto cellulose, which was pre-processed with diethylenetriamine dipropylene oxide (NAED) to introduce NH groups through PCN bonds.

Most of the developed flexible hydrogel supercapacitors struggle to maintain their electrochemical stability and structural integrity under tensile strain. Therefore, developing a flexible supercapacitor with excellent mechanical properties and stable electrochemical performance under different strains remains a challenge. Based on the previous cartilage-like structure, we designed a new coarse nanofiber bundle and ordered network.

Traditional wound closure methods often present several issues, including additional puncture wounds, adverse effects from anesthesia, and noticeable scarring. Inspired by embryonic wound healing, a Janus hydrogel (PG/Au-Asp@PCM) is designed to manipulate non-invasive wound closure by photothermal-responsive self-contraction of PG/Au-Asp@PCM, which is attributed to the shape memory behavior of PG/Au-Asp@PCM under near-infrared (NIR). Wherein, gelatin acts as a thermally reversible "switch" and polyacrylamide creates stable and cross-linked "net-points".

Instant and refrigerated acid soaking are commonly used in cocoon production to prevent or break diapause, and provide developable silkworm eggs for sericulture, while their mechanisms have not been fully understood. This study aims to investigate the mechanisms by which hydrochloric acid (HCl) or dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) promotes embryonic development in silkworm Bombyx mori, focusing on the chloride ion (Cl) related gene expression profiles. Our results revealed that the HCl treatment of up to 6 min enhanced hatchability in freshly picked and cold-stored eggs, whereas a slight decrease in hatchability was observed in those treated with DMSO for 40 min.

High-quality aromatic rice (HAR) is most sensitive to low-temperature stress at the booting stage (LTB), and LTB leads to quality reduction. The key enzymes involved in nitrogen and carbon metabolism significantly affect the synthesis of proteins and starch, thereby influencing the nutritional and taste quality of rice. However, to date, no studies have focused on the after-effects of low-temperature at booting on the quality formation of HAR.

Hormones are effective in regulating plant metabolism and, therefore, are often used in plant cell culture to increase the yield of target products. This study investigated the effects of hormones on the growth and anthocyanin biosynthesis of suspension-cultured red Cyclocarya paliurus cells. Additionally, the mechanism by which gibberellin induces anthocyanin biosynthesis was explored through multi-omics integrated analysis and the assay of the dynamic changes in signaling molecule concentration.

The Pichia pastoris expression system is a favorable platform for production of pharmaceutical proteins. Treatment of strains with N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) has been shown to enhance the yield of recombinant proteins, thereby contributing to a reduction in production costs. However, the specific mechanism of action of NAC remains unclear.

Chaperonin containing tailless complex polypeptide 1 (CCT) functions as a molecular chaperone and is essential for ensuring proper protein folding. Glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78/Bip), also a type of chaperone, not only assists in folding of proteins, but also facilitates the transportation of proteins into the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) via the Sec protein complex. In this study, we identified the CCTη of N.

Starvation can induce autophagy and apoptosis in intestinal cells. To elucidate the underlying mechanisms, we investigated autophagy and apoptosis in the midgut of the model insect, silkworm (Bombyx mori), focusing on calcium homeostasis. The results indicated that the body weight of silkworms decreased, along with damage to the morphology of their digestive tracts and midguts after starvation treatment.

Endoreplication is particularly important in the context of silk protein synthesis within the silk gland cells of silkworms. Our previous research indicated that the BmE2F1 enhances the silk yield of silkworm cocoons, but the underlying molecular mechanism remains elusive. In this study, we employed RNA-sequencing to dissect the transcriptional profiles of silk glands in the wild-type Dazao silkworm strain and the overexpression (OE) silkworm strain with specific overexpression of the BmE2F1 gene in silk glands.

Background: Osteoporosis, characterized by decreased bone mineral density due to an imbalance between osteoblast and osteoclast activity, poses significant challenges in bone healing, particularly in postmenopausal women. Current treatments, such as bisphosphonates, are effective but associated with adverse effects like medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw, necessitating safer alternatives.
Methods: This study investigated the use of L-serine-incorporated gelatin sponges for bone regeneration in calvarial defects in an ovariectomized rat model of osteoporosis.

The Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) is a DNA virus that affects the silkworm, , causing substantial economic losses in sericulture. This study investigates the mechanisms underlying budded virus egress, focusing on the roles of the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway (UPP) machinery. BmNPV produces two virion types: budded virions (BVs) and occlusion-derived virions (ODVs), which differ in their envelope origins and functions.

Spider silk is part of a special class of natural protein fibers that have high strength and toughness: these materials have excellent comprehensive properties that are not found in other natural fibers (including silk) or most synthetic fibers. Spider egg case filaments have good hardness, can resist water, can protect spider eggs from external threats, have a significantly high initial modulus and high moisture absorption rate, and are expected to be used as a new generation of environmentally friendly natural polymer fibers and biomaterials. However, spiders are predatory and difficult to rear in large numbers, and it is also difficult to obtain spider egg case filaments in large quantities.

Microbial infectivity increases with rising environmental temperature, heightening the risk of infection to host organisms. The host's basal immunity is activated accordingly to mitigate upcoming pathogenic threats; still, how animals sense temperature elevation to adjust their preventive immune response remains elusive. This study reports that high temperature enhances innate immunity differently from pathogen infection.
