Bile duct injuries are rare complications of hepatobiliary pancreatic surgery, leading to severe complications if not timely diagnosed and treated, with surgery traditionally being the primary treatment option. However, percutaneous transhepatic or endoscopic interventions have recently gained widespread use. We present a case study of a patient with variant biliary anatomy, who suffered biliary tract injury postcholedochal cyst resection and Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy; successfully treated with percutaneous transhepatic bilioenteric neoanastomosis, guided by ultrasound and digital subtraction angiography (DSA).

Prognostication studies of cardiac arrest patients have mainly focused on poor neurological outcomes. However, an optimistic prognosis for good outcome could provide both justification to maintain and escalate treatment and evidence-based support to persuade family members or legal surrogates after cardiac arrest. The aim of the study was to evaluate the utility of clinical examinations performed after return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) in predicting good neurological outcomes in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients treated with targeted temperature management (TTM).

Idiopathic sudden hearing loss (ISHL) is associated with vestibular complaints in 30% of cases. In this study, we aimed to determine the change in caloric test responses in ISHL, determine the degree of influence on the vestibular nerve, investigate the correlation between vestibular nerve damage and vestibular complaints during admission, and evaluate the effect of vestibular nerve influence on the recovery process. Patients with ISHL were divided into groups with and without vestibular complaints and classified according to their hearing level.

Introduction: Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) outcomes are unsatisfactory despite postcardiac arrest care. Early prediction of prognoses might help stratify patients and provide tailored therapy. In this study, we derived and validated a novel scoring system to predict hypoxic-ischemic brain injury (HIBI) and in-hospital death (IHD).

Background And Objectives: We investigated whether extra-pulmonary vein (PV) ablation targeting a high maximal slope of the action potential duration restitution curve (Smax) improves the rhythm outcome of persistent atrial fibrillation (PeAF) ablation.
Methods: In this open-label, multi-center, randomized, and controlled trial, 178 PeAF patients were randomized with 1:1 ratio to computational modeling-guided virtual Smax ablation (V-Smax) or empirical ablation (E-ABL) groups. Smax maps were generated by computational modeling based on atrial substrate maps acquired during clinical procedures in sinus rhythm.

Corneal epithelium maintains visual acuity and is regenerated by the proliferation and differentiation of limbal progenitor cells. Transplantation of human limbal progenitor cells could restore the integrity and functionality of the corneal surface in patients with limbal stem cell deficiency. However, multiple protocols are employed to differentiate human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells into corneal epithelium or limbal progenitor cells.

Introduction: Presently, super-thin ALT flap, which is elevated above the superficial fascial plane, is gaining popularity. Although there is a huge demand for thin flaps for various types of extremity reconstruction, the technique for ALT flap thinning remains controversial. In this study, we investigated the distance and vector between penetrating points of perforators in deep and superficial fascia using color duplex and clinical measurement to suggest a reliable super-thin flap elevation technique.
