Near-infrared organic light-emitting diodes (NIR OLEDs) have significant potential for wearable phototherapeutic applications because of the unique properties of the OLEDs, including their free-form electronics and the excellent biomedical effects of NIR emission. In spite of their tremendous promise, given that the majority of NIR OLEDs in previous research have relied on the utilization of an intrinsically brittle indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode, their practicality in the field of wearable electronics is inherently constrained. Here, we report wearable and wavelength-tunable NIR OLEDs that employ a high-performance NIR emitter and an innovative architecture by replacing the ITO with a silver (Ag) electrode.

The current diagnosis of bacteremia mainly relies on blood culture, which is inadequate for the rapid and quantitative determination of most bacteria in blood. Here, a quantitative, multiplex, microfluidic fluorescence in situ hybridization method (μFISH) is developed, which enables early and rapid (3-h) diagnosis of bacteremia without the need for prior blood culture. This novel technology employs mannose-binding lectin-coated magnetic nanoparticles, which effectively opsonize a broad range of pathogens, magnetically sequestering them in a microfluidic device.

This study investigates the hyaloid vascular regression and its relationship to the retinal and choroidal vascular developments using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA). Normal and oxygen-induced retinopathy (OIR) rat eyes at postnatal day 15, 18, 21, and 24 were longitudinally imaged using OCTA. , longitudinal observation of tumorigenesis in a live mouse model over an extended time period has been actively pursued to obtain a better understanding of the cellular and molecular mechanism in a highly complex tumor microenvironment. However, common intravital imaging approaches based on a conventional laser scanning confocal or a two-photon microscope have been mostly limited to the observation of superficial parts of the solid tumor tissue. In this work, we implemented a small diameter needle-shaped side-view confocal endomicroscope that can be directly inserted into a solid tumor in a minimally-invasive manner .

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the retinal and choroidal vasculatures of an oxygen-induced retinopathy (OIR) rat model using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) as well as to verify the performance of OCTA for visualizing in vivo vascular alterations, longitudinally and quantitatively.
Methods: To induce OIR, Sprague Dawley rat pups were incubated in an 80% oxygen chamber from postnatal day 1 (P1) to P11 and returned to room air. OCTA imaging was performed in six eyes at P15, P18, P21, and P24.

Direct intravital imaging of an endothelial surface layer (ESL) in pulmonary microcirculation could be a valuable approach to investigate the role of a vascular endothelial barrier in various pathological conditions. Despite its importance as a marker of endothelial cell damage and impairment of the vascular system, visualization of ESL has remained a challenging technical issue. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) in visualizing laser-induced choroidal neovascularization (CNV) in the rodent retina.
Methods: Choroidal neovascularization was induced via laser photocoagulation in 2 male Brown Norway rats and 2 male C57BL/6 mice. For qualitative comparison, the animals were imaged in vivo with OCTA, indocyanine green angiography (ICGA), and fluorescein angiography (FA), and ex vivo with immunofluorescence confocal microscopy, 14 days post laser photocoagulation without anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) intervention.
