Objective: Prior studies have revealed that a body mass index (BMI) ≥ 30 is associated with worse outcomes following surgical intervention in grade 1 lumbar spondylolisthesis. Using a machine learning approach, this study aimed to leverage the prospective Quality Outcomes Database (QOD) to identify a BMI threshold for patients undergoing surgical intervention for grade 1 lumbar spondylolisthesis and thus reliably identify optimal surgical candidates among obese patients.

The Surpass Evolve flow diverter is a novel 64-wire braided intravascular stent approved to treat unruptured large or giant saccular wide-neck or fusiform intracranial aneurysms of the intracranial internal carotid artery. Flow diverting stents have been used for the treatment of previously stented aneurysms, including residual aneurysms following prior flow diversion. This patient initially presented with a large symptomatic matricidal cavernous ICA aneurysm that was treated with stand-alone Neuroform Atlas stenting at an outside hospital.

Moyamoya disease (MMD) is a chronic, progressive cerebrovascular disease involving the occlusion or stenosis of the terminal portion of the internal carotid artery (ICA) and the proximal anterior and middle cerebral arteries. Adults with MMD have been shown to progressively accumulate neurological and cognitive deficits without treatment, with a mortality rate double that of pediatric patients with MMD. Surgical intervention is the mainstay of treatment to prevent disease progression and improve clinical outcomes.

Background: Hemangioblastomas (HBs) are well-vascularized, benign central nervous system tumors and the third most common primary spinal cord tumor after astrocytoma/ependymoma, occurring sporadically or as a part of autosomal dominant von Hippel-Lindau disease, in which tumors are often multiple and prone to relapse. Spinal HBs are commonly located in the cervical cord and associated with a syrinx formation. Owing to location and growth trends, they may cause significant neurological deficit, impairing quality of life.

Evidence is growing to support minimally invasive surgical evacuation of intraparenchymal hematomas, particularly those with minimal residual hematoma volumes following evacuation. To maximize the potential for neurologic recovery, it is imperative that the trajectory for access to the hematoma minimizes disruption of normal parenchyma. Flat panel detector CT-based navigation and needle guidance software provides a platform that uses flat panel detector CT imaging obtained on the angiography table to aid reliable and safe access to the hematoma.

The Woven EndoBridge (WEB) device (MicroVention, Aliso Viejo, California) is an intrasaccular flow disruptor used for the treatment of both unruptured and ruptured intracranial aneurysms. WEB has been shown to have 54% complete and 85% adequate aneurysm occlusion rates at 1-yr follow-up.1 Residual and recurrent ruptured aneurysms have been shown to have a higher risk of re-rupture than completely occluded aneurysms.

Accurate presurgical mapping of motor, speech, and language cortices, while crucial for neurosurgical planning and minimizing post-operative functional deficits, is challenging in young children with neurological disease. In such children, both invasive (cortical stimulation mapping) and non-invasive functional mapping imaging methods (MEG, fMRI) have limited success, often leading to delayed surgery or adverse post-surgical outcomes.
