This research shows the detailed comparison of Raman and near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy as Process Analytical Technology tools for the real-time monitoring of a protein purification process. A comprehensive investigation of the application and model development of Raman and NIR spectroscopy was carried out for the real-time monitoring of a process-related impurity, imidazole, during the tangential flow filtration of Receptor-Binding Domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein. The fast development of Raman and NIR spectroscopy-based calibration models was achieved using offline calibration data, resulting in low calibration and cross-validation errors.

The prevention of pre-eclampsia is difficult due to the syndromic nature and multiple underlying mechanisms of this severe complication of pregnancy. The current clinical distinction between early- and late-onset disease, although clinically useful, does not reflect the true nature and complexity of the pathologic processes leading to pre-eclampsia. The current gaps in knowledge on the heterogeneous molecular pathways of this syndrome and the lack of adequate, specific diagnostic methods are major obstacles to early screening and tailored preventive strategies.

An asymmetric cyanine-type fluorescent dye was designed and synthesized a versatile, multi-step process, aiming to conjugate with an Her2+ receptor specific antibody by an azide-alkyne click reaction. The aromaticity and the excitation and relaxation energetics of the fluorophore were characterized by computational methods. The synthesized dye exhibited excellent fluorescence properties for confocal microscopy, offering efficient applicability in imaging due to its merits such as a high molar absorption coefficient (36 816 M cm), excellent brightness, optimal wavelength (627 nm), larger Stokes shift (26 nm) and appropriate photostability compared to cyanines.

Epilepsy is a prevalent neurological condition, with underlying neuronal mechanisms involving hyperexcitability and hypersynchrony. Imbalance between excitatory and inhibitory circuits, as well as histological reorganization are relatively well-documented in animal models or even in the human hippocampus, but less is known about human neocortical epileptic activity. A novel family of julolidine-containing fluorescent rhodols equipped with a wide variety of substituents was synthesized in a versatile two-step process. Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) patients have markedly decreased immune response to vaccinations. In this study we evaluated humoral and T cell-mediated responses against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-Cov-2) with additional flow cytometric changes in CVID patients receiving booster vaccination with BNT162b2 after two ChAdOx1 nCoV-19. The BNT162b2 vaccine raised the anti-spike protein S immunoglobulin G over the cut-off value from 70% to 83% in CVID, anti-neutralizing antibody had been raised over a cut-off value from 70% to 80% but levels after boosting were significantly less in both tests than in healthy controls (*p=0.

The GC-MS quantification of biogenic monoamines (BMAs), together with their acidic metabolites (ACMEs), in a single step, is presented here for the first time. This novel principle is based on the exceptional reactivity of the hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) and perfluorocarboxylic acid (PFCA) couples [1,2], resulting in the simultaneous trimethylsilylation and acylation of BMAs and ACMEs. For this basic study, tyramine (TYR), 3-methoxytyramine (3-MeTYR), dopamine (DA), epinephrine (EP), normetanephrine (NORMNE), norepinephrine (NOREP), tryptamine (T), 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA), 5-methoxytryptamine (5-MeT), serotonin (ST), and their ACMEs, such as homovanillic acid (HVA), vanillylmandelic acid (VMA), and 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) were selected.

Background: In evidence-informed policy-making (EIP), major knowledge gaps remain in understanding the context and possibilities for institutionalisation of knowledge translation. In 2014, the WHO Evidence-informed Policy Network (EVIPNet) Europe initiated a number of pilot countries, with Hungary among them, to engage in a 'situation analysis' (SA) in order to fill some of those gaps. Background: In middle-income countries, access to biological therapy is limited in ulcerative colitis in terms of the number of patients and the length of therapy.
