Endothelin is both a potent vasoconstrictor and an important mediator of ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury. Therefore, the role of endothelin receptor antagonism in IR-induced-tissue injury carries great interest. Here, we examined the effect of tezosentan, a nonselective antagonist for endothelin receptors, on myocardial injury induced by abdominal aortic IR, which represents a model of the IR injury in distant organs frequently occurred after vascular surgery.

Background: Surgical shunting might be considered as the only option in the treatment of extended ischemic priapism that does not respond to aspiration and medication.

Objective: A modified, simple, minimally invasive, and easily applicable artificial cavernosal-venous shunt technique for treating priapism is described in this report.

Design, Setting, And Participants: A total of 15 patients with extended and nonresponsive low-flow priapism were treated with this technique between January 1998 and February 2007.

Objective: To evaluate the 2 methods of cytologic screening to detect abnormalities of the cervical epithelium.

Methods: This study with 3 groups of women was performed at Selcuk University Meram Medical School between January 2004 and March 2006. In one group (paired sample for specimen collection) women were screened with conventional cytology; in another group (paired sample for specimen collection) they were screened with liquid-based cytology; and in the third group (split sample for specimen collection) they were screened by both methods.

Epidural thoracal teratoma in a 7-month-old girl.

Case Report: We report a rare case of epidural thoracal teratoma in a 7-month-old girl. A total laminectomy was performed via T6-T8 and the lesion was totally excised.
