Trends of primary glomerular disease in Turkey: TSN-GOLD registry report.

Background: Although several renal biopsy registry reports have been published worldwide, there are no data on primary glomerular disease trends in Turkey.

Methods: Three thousand eight-hundred fifty-eight native kidney biopsy records were assessed in the Turkish Society of Nephrology Primary Glomerulopathy Working Group (TSN-GOLD) Registry. Secondary disease and transplant biopsies were not recorded in the registry.

3',4'-Dihydroxyflavonol (DiOHF) prevents DNA damage, lipid peroxidation and inflammation in ovarian ischaemia-reperfusion injury of rats.

This study aimed to determine the effect of 3',4'-Dihydroxyflavonol (DiOHF) on lipid peroxidation, DNA damage and inflammation in ovarian ischaemia (I)-reperfusion (R) injury. This study was performed on 44 Wistar-albino female rats. Groups were designed as Control; Sham; I/R (the left ovary was ligated for 2 h and then reperfused for 2 h); I/R + DiOHF (after 2 h ischaemia and 2 h reperfusion, 30 mg/kg of DiOHF was given intraperitoneally and reperfusion was allowed for 2 h more); I + DiOHF + R (after 2 h I, 30 mg/kg of DiOHF was given at the beginning of 2 h reperfusion); DiOHF + I/R (2 h after DiOHF administration, the left ovary was ligated for 2 h and then reperfused for 2 h).

Bilateral uterine and ovarian artery ligation in addition to B-lynch suture may be an alternative to hysterectomy for uterine atonic hemorrhage.

Purpose Of Investigation: To evaluate the effectiveness of bilateral uterine arteries and ovarian artery ligation followed by B-Lynch compression suturing in controlling atonic postpartum hemorrhage.

Methods: In this retrospective study, the data of eight patients that had uterine atony during cesarean section and treated by bilateral uterine and ovarian artery ligation followed by B-Lynch compression suturing during the period from February 2009 to September 2010 were collected and analyzed.

Results: Eight cases were treated by the above protocol; the average age of the patients was 25.

Management of a colon perforation during pediatric percutaneous nephrolithotomy.

Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is one of the most common treatment options in the management of kidney stones in children. While colon perforation during PCNL is reported as a rare complication in adults, there are scarce data regarding colon perforation during pediatric PCNL. We report the successful management of colon perforation occurring during PCNL and of a renal stone in a 6-year-old child.

An unusual cause of cold injury: liquified petroleum gas leakage.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is an odorless and colorless gas that is a mixture of hydrocarbons (propane and butane). It is now more commonly preferred among drivers as an auto-gas throughout the world because it is cheaper than petrol or diesel and produces the same amount of energy. Surgical management with or without a nasogastric tube in esophageal repairs.

Objective: The aim of the study was to compare surgical management with or without a nasogastric tube (NGT) to prevent anastomotic stricture that occurred following esophageal repairs (ERs).

Methods: Twelve New Zealand rabbits were divided equally into 2m: with a NGT (experimental group) and without a NGT (control group). A 1-cm-length of the cervical esophagus was resected through a cervical incision and then anastomosis was performed using the NGT and keeping it in place for 6 days in the experimental group.

Efficacy of bipolar release in neglected congenital muscular torticollis patients.

Surgical correction of the congenital muscular torticollis (CMT) is recommended for patients with unsuccessful conservative treatment. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of surgical release of congenital muscular torticollis in neglected cases. We retrospectively evaluated the data of our patients in terms of age, sex, clinical presentation, localization of the lesion, diagnostic tests, and additional abnormalities.

Ovarian cancer during pregnancy.
