Integrin-linked kinase (ILK), a β1-integrin cytoplasmic domain interacting protein, supports multi-protein complex formation. ILK-1 is involved in neurodegenerative diseases by promoting neuro-inflammation. On the other hand, its overexpression induces epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), which is a major hallmark of cancer and activates various factors associated with a tumorigenic phenotype.

Background: Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML) present intricate challenges due to their diverse clinical manifestations and thrombotic complications. Thromboembolism (TE) incidence in newly diagnosed AML patients is noteworthy, with arterial TE linked to poorer overall survival. Ischemic strokes, although relatively low in prevalence, carry significant clinical implications.

Article Synopsis
  • Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are widely prescribed for acid-related disorders, but their long-term effects on bone health are becoming a concern.
  • A review of 27 studies found a significant increase in fracture risks, particularly in the hip, spine, and wrist, as well as changes in Bone Mineral Density (BMD) among PPI users, despite uncertainty about the clinical impact.
  • The evidence also suggested risks of hypomagnesemia and dental implant failures in PPI users, but the overall confidence in these findings was rated as very low to low, indicating a need for more rigorous studies.

Background: The Directly Observed Treatment-Short Course (DOTS) Programme was implemented by WHO and includes a combination of four anti-tuberculosis (TB) drugs (isoniazid, pyrazinamide, ethambutol and rifampicin) for a period of six months to eradicate the TB infection completely. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is recognized as one of a strong contributor of TB according to World Health Organization (WHO). The presence of diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM type 2) makes TB treatment complicated.

Background: Anesthesia with deep neuromuscular block for laparoscopic surgery may result in less postoperative pain with lower intra-abdominal pressure. However, the results in the existing literature are controversial. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of deep versus moderate neuromuscular block (NMB) on the postoperative recovery characteristics after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) for weight loss surgery.

The suggested study adheres to a particular protocol to ensure that the process is environmentally friendly and sustainable. It is worth mentioning that several tools have been adopted as prospective measures of the method greenness. Fortunately, the established analytical method is identified as white by the white analytical chemistry (WAC) concept, which uses the red/ green/blue color scheme (RGB 12 tool) to combine ecological and functional factors for the first time in studying of the cited drug.

Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is a pro-oxidant enzyme mainly found in the azurophilic granules of neutrophils. It not only displays a key role in the intracellular microbial killing process but also contributes to the extracellular clearance of several pathogens. This study aimed to detect MPO in cutaneous leukocytoclastic vasculitis (LCV) using immunohistochemistry.

In the present study, the formation of a heterodimer involving both epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) has been explored as a potential therapeutic mechanism to inhibit the progression of breast cancer. Virtual screening using molecular docking resulted in the three hit compounds (, , and ) with minimum binding scores and commonly binding to both receptors. Further, MD simulation analysis of these complexes illustrated the high stability of these compounds with EGFR and HER2.

is a pathogenic bacterial species belonging to the family and it is mainly considered the etiological agent of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases associated with cystic fibrosis, due to being intrinsic antibiotic resistant making it difficult to treat pulmonary infections. Hence increased rate of antibiotic-resistant bacterial species vaccine development is the priority to tackle this problem. In research work, we designed a multi-epitope-based vaccine construct against using reverse vaccinology immunoinformatics and biophysical approaches.

Lung cancer is a pervasive and challenging disease with limited treatment options, with global health challenges often present with complex molecular profiles necessitating the exploration of innovative therapeutic strategies. Single-target drugs have shown limited success due to the heterogeneity of this disease. Multitargeted drug designing is imperative to combat this complexity by simultaneously targeting multiple target proteins and pathways, which can enhance treatment efficacy and overcome resistance by addressing the dynamic nature of the disease and stopping tumour growth and spread.
