Introduction: The apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) from diffusion MRI provides critical insights into tissue microstructure and is influenced by various b-values. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of multiple b-values on ADC measurements using a multicenter observational approach with different MRI scanners and phantoms.

Methods: The study utilized a liquid isotropic phantom across eight different 1.

Article Synopsis
  • MALT1 is a crucial protein involved in immune responses, and its unusual signaling is linked to various diseases, including cancer, making it a target for new therapies.
  • The study aimed to identify plant-based small molecules that could bind to MALT1 using computational methods, screening 34 compounds for their effectiveness.
  • Cyanidin emerged as a promising allosteric inhibitor of MALT1, showing better binding and stability than the control drug thioridazine, but further testing is necessary to confirm its effectiveness in treating cancer and related diseases.

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks originating from defects within the anterior and middle cranial fossa typically manifest as unilateral clear watery rhinorrhea. Continuous CSF leakage mandates surgical repair due to the risk of meningitis and brain abscess. It can be categorized based on its underlying etiology into traumatic, iatrogenic and non-traumatic CSF leaks.

Background: Prostate cancer, a significant contributor to male cancer mortality globally, demands improved diagnostic strategies. In Saudi Arabia, where the incidence is expected to double, this study assessed the compliance of multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) practices with Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System version 2 (PI-RADS v2) guidelines across diverse healthcare institutions.

Methods: A survey was distributed to the radiology departments of all tertiary referral hospitals in Saudi Arabia (n=60) to assess their compliance with the technical specifications outlined in PI-RADS v2.

Ubiquitin specific protease 30 (USP30) has been attributed to mitochondrial dysfunction and impediment of mitophagy in Parkinson's disease (PD). This happens once ubiquitin that supposed to bind with deformed mitochondria at the insistence of Parkin, it's been recruited by USP30 the distal ubiquitin binding domain. This is a challenge when PINK1 and Parkin loss their functions due to mutation.

GABA transaminase deficiency should be considered in the differential diagnosis of early onset epileptic encephalopathies. This case was diagnosed post-mortem, but increased vigilance to this will allow for earlier diagnoses in other infants and families. This is a case study which involved diagnosis of a rare neurometabolic disorder in one of the babies in the family and eventual genetic counselling of the family.

Cranioectodermal dysplasia (CED) is a very rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by a recognizable craniofacial profile in addition to ectodermal manifestations involving the skin, hair, and teeth. Four genes are known to be mutated in this disorder, all involved in the ciliary intraflagellar transport confirming that CED is a ciliopathy. In a multiplex consanguineous family with typical CED features in addition to intellectual disability and severe cutis laxa, we used autozygosity-guided candidate gene analysis to identify a novel homozygous mutation in IFT122, and demonstrated impaired ciliogenesis in patient fibroblasts.
