Acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) are life-threatening lung diseases in critically ill patients. The lack of prognostic biomarkers has halted detection methods and effective therapy development. Quantitative biomarker-based approaches in the systemic circulation have been proposed as a means of enhancing diagnostic strategies as well as pharmacotherapy in a patient-specific manner.

Cytokines play an important role in SARS-CoV-2 infection progression and severity. A number of inflammatory cytokines have been directly associated with disease severity including IL-6 (interleukin-6), IL-10, TNF-α (tumor necrosis factor alpha), IFN-γ (interferon-gamma). Here, in this study, the aim was to better understand the interplay between host immune response mediated by cytokines and severity of SARS-CoV-2 infection by assessing cytokine expression.

Iatrogenic orbital hematoma is a rare event, most often manifested by a painful exophthalmos that could compromise the patient's visual prognosis. We report the case of a 51-year-old female patient with a history of non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy and high blood pressure, who developed a painful exophthalmos following an upper gastrointestinal sedation-free endoscopy. The diagnosis of an intra-orbital hematoma was made by computed tomographic scan and a conservative attitude was adopted after a thorough ophthalmological examination.

Plumbagin (PLM), a plant derivative, is well known for a wide range of therapeutic effects in humans including anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and anti-microbial. Cytotoxic and genotoxic potential of this phytochemical has been studied which demands further insight. DNA being a major target for several drugs was taken to study against PLM to understand its effects on the cellular system.

Introduction: Misoprostol is widely used for medication abortion and postpartum hemorrhage. However, it has been associated with the adverse effect of fever, which can pose challenges in management and potentially contribute to unnecessary antibiotic use. The incidence of misoprostol-induced fever in the context of medical abortion has not been extensively studied.

Introduction: Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (AMBP) has become a valuable tool for analyzing patient blood pressure (BP) pro-file to make a more accurate prognosis compared to clinical office BP.

Aim: To identify the prognostic value of different parameters of ABPM and the future course of cardiovascular events (CVE) in treated hypertensive patients.

Methods: We conducted a prospective, descriptive study, including treated hypertensive patients which had consulted between 2015 and 2016 and had a systematic ABPM during their follow-up.

Hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) prolyl hydroxylase domain (PHD) enzymes are major therapeutic targets of anemia and ischemic/hypoxia diseases. To overcome safety issues, liver failure, and problems associated with on-/off-targets, natural products due to their novel and unique structures offer promising alternatives as drug targets. In the current study, the Marine Natural Products, North African, South African, East African, and North-East African chemical space was explored for HIF-PHD inhibitors discovery through molecular search, and the final hits were validated using molecular simulation and free energy calculation approaches.

Inhaler combination formulations consisting of an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (fluticasone propionate) and a long-acting β2 agonist (salmeterol xinafoate) are indicated as maintenance treatments for patients with asthma and/or for selected patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The emergence of generic equivalents to branded inhalers is expected to offer economic edge/savings; however, some may argue that cost advantages offered by generic inhalers may be offset by worsening outcomes due to improper inhaler use, reduced adherence, and consequently worse disease control. To understand how unsupervised and unconsented switch of dry-powder inhalers and/or metered-dose inhalers affects clinical and humanistic outcomes in asthma, comprehensive searches of Embase and MEDLINE were conducted to identify research articles published in the English language since 2011.

Introduction And Importance: Symptomatic ileocaecal lipomas is a fascinating disease, it represents a distinctive subtype of bowel lipomas for two main reasons: it is so rare that its exact incidence is unknown, second its clinical and radiological features are so unspecific that it remains a challenging diagnosis. In terms of treatment surgical resection is indicated when doubting malignant origin, or in case of symptomatic lipomas. Through anatomopathological findings, diagnosis can be confirmed.
