The long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) HOTAIR occupies a central position in the complex domain of cancer biology, particularly concerning its intricate interplay with the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. This comprehensive review explores the multifaceted interactions between HOTAIR and the Wnt/β-catenin cascade, elucidating their profound function in cancer growth, progression, and therapeutic strategies. The study commences by underscoring the pivotal role of the Wnt/β-catenin cascade in governing essential cellular activities, emphasizing its dysregulation as a linchpin in cancer initiation and advancement.

Background: The use of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) after coronary revascularization for left-main disease is still debated. The study aimed to characterize patients who received dual versus single antiplatelet therapy (SAPT) after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) for unprotected left-main disease and compare the outcomes of those patients.
Results: This multicenter retrospective cohort study included 551 patients who were grouped into 2 groups: patients who received SAPT (n = 150) and those who received DAPT (n = 401).

Background: Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is an inherited progressive cardiomyopathy. We aimed to define the long-term clinical outcome and genetic characteristics of patients and family members with positive genetic tests for ARVC in a single tertiary care cardiac center in Saudi Arabia.
Methods: We enrolled 46 subjects in the study, including 23 index-patients (probands) with ARVC based on the revised 2010 ARVC Task Force Criteria (TFC) and 23 family members who underwent a genetic test for the ARVC between 2016 and 2020.

Background: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has embarked on a Health Sector Transformation Program as part of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 initiatives with the facilitation of access to healthcare services for the millions in KSA with diabetes an essential part of the Program. Decision-making tools, such as budget impact models, are required to consider the addition of new medications like oral semaglutide that have multifaceted health benefits and address barriers related to therapeutic inertia to reduce diabetes-related complications.
Objective: To determine the financial impact of the introduction of oral semaglutide as a treatment option for people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in KSA.

However, after four days, the patient's HSE diagnosis was confirmed by the detection of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1) polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing. This case highlights the importance of utilizing multiple diagnostic aids and not solely relying on initial test results, as infections may not appear in CSF analysis or MRI scans initially. Furthermore, this case also emphasizes the necessity of initiating empirical treatment based on clinical signs and symptoms, even in cases where diagnostic tests initially appear negative.

The purpose of the meta-analysis was to evaluate and compare the prevalence of surgical site infection (SSI) after spine surgery (SS) in nasal colonization of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The results of this meta-analysis were analysed, and the odds ratio (OR) and mean difference (MD) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using dichotomous or contentious random- or fixed-effect models. For the current meta-analysis, 14 examinations spanning from 2014 to 2022 were included, encompassing 18 410 people who were tested for nasal colonization after SS.

Alport syndrome (AS) is a rare genetic disorder categorized by the progressive loss of kidney function, sensorineural hearing loss and eye abnormalities. It occurs due to mutations in three genes that encode for the alpha chains of type IV collagen. Globally, the disease is classified based on the pattern of inheritance into X-linked AS (XLAS), which is caused by pathogenic variants in COL4A5, representing 80% of AS.

Millions of people's lives are being devastated by dengue virus (DENV), a severe tropical and subtropical illness spread by mosquitoes and other vectors. Dengue fever may be self-limiting like a common cold or can rapidly progress to catastrophic dengue hemorrhagic fever or dengue shock syndrome. With four distinct dengue serotypes (DENV1-4), each with the potential to contain antibody-boosting complicated mechanisms, developing a dengue vaccine has been an ambitious challenge.

This review aimed to assess the diagnostic utility of fecal calprotectin (FCP) for identifying organic gastrointestinal disease (OGID) in patients undergoing colonoscopy for gastrointestinal discomfort or active progression of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Studies published between January 2013 and December 2022 evaluating the clinical efficacy of FCP for differentiating OGID against functional gastrointestinal disease (FGID) were identified using PubMed, Cochrane, and Scopus databases. Clinical diagnostic studies involving individuals with lower gastrointestinal symptoms; using FCP as a diagnostic biomarker either in primary, secondary, or tertiary healthcare centers conducted either prospectively or retrospectively using stool samples (index test), contrasting FCP with a reference test, such as colonoscopy, or endoscopy, and assessed using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay were reviewed.

Acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) are life-threatening lung diseases in critically ill patients. The lack of prognostic biomarkers has halted detection methods and effective therapy development. Quantitative biomarker-based approaches in the systemic circulation have been proposed as a means of enhancing diagnostic strategies as well as pharmacotherapy in a patient-specific manner.
