The large-scale loach (Paramisgurnus dabryanus; Cypriniformes: Cobitidae) is primarily distributed in East Asia. It is an important economic fish species characterized by fast growth, temperature-dependent sex determination and the ability to breathe air. Currently, molecular mechanism studies related to some aspects such as sex determination, toxicology, feed nutrition, growth and genetic evolution have been conducted.

The multi-kinase inhibitor sorafenib has shown potential to inhibit tumor cell growth and intra-tumoral angiogenesis by targeting several kinases, including VEGFR2 and RAF. Abnormal activation of the Ras/Raf/MAPK/ERK kinase cascade and the VEGF pathway is a common feature in breast cancer. However, the efficacy of sorafenib in breast cancer treatment remains limited.

Background: Due to climate change, the frequency and intensity of heat waves and other extreme weather events are rapidly increasing. Compared to the general population, pregnant women and fetuses are increasingly vulnerable to the effects of extreme temperatures and are associated with the occurrence of adverse birth outcomes, including preterm birth (PTB). However, its risk of preterm birth is currently uncertain.

Objectives: Postpartum depression (PPD) is a prevalent complication of childbearing, with numerous risk factors associated with its onset. Although the risk factors for PPD among postpartum women have been studied, the mechanisms underlying these factors remain inadequately understood. This study aimed to investigate the direct and mediating roles of different coping styles in the relationship between dyadic adjustment status and PPD among women 6 weeks postdelivery.

High mutation rates in SARS-CoV-2, particularly among immunocompromised patients living with HIV, continue to complicate the current COVID-19 pandemic. The threshold for severe COVID-19 and a greater risk of mortality have increased in many immunocompromised individuals due to a weakened immune system. Low CD4+ T-cell counts in people living with both HIV and COVID-19 lead to prolonged disease duration and, therefore, an increased likelihood of viral infection with SARS-CoV-2 mutations in such individuals.

Congenital heart disease (CHD) represents a major birth defect associated with substantial morbidity and mortality. Although environmental factors are acknowledged as potential contributors to CHD, the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Bisphenol A (BPA), a common endocrine disruptor, has attracted significant attention due to its widespread use and associated health risks.

Organofluorines, particularly those containing trifluoromethyl (CF3) groups, play a critical role in medicinal chemistry. While trifluoromethylation of alkenes provides a powerful synthetic route to construct CF3-containing compounds with broad structural and functional diversity, achieving enantioselective control in these reactions remains a formidable challenge. In this study, we engineered a nonheme iron enzyme, quercetin 2,3-dioxygenase from Bacillus subtilis (BsQueD), for the enantioselective trifluoromethylazidation of alkenes.

Background And Purpose: The hemoglobin levels in the peripheral blood of individuals living at high altitudes are significantly higher than normal levels. These levels are closely associated with atherosclerosis and cardiovascular events. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between hemoglobin levels in the peripheral blood and hypertension in high-altitude regions, providing a basis for preventing and treating primary hypertension in these regions.

Background: Asthenozoospermia (ASZ) accounts for about 20-40% of male infertility, and genetic factors, contributing to 30-40% of the causes of ASZ, still need further exploration. Radial spokes (RSs), a T-shaped macromolecular complex, connect the peripheral doublet microtubules (DMTs) to a central pair (CP), forming a CP-RS-DMT structure to regulate the beat frequency and amplitude of sperm flagella. To date, many components of RSs and their functions in human sperm flagella remain unclear.

Hereditary heart disease (HHD) is a series of cardiac disorders associated with monogenic or polygenic abnormalities and is one of the leading causes of sudden death, particularly in young adults. The updated European Cardiology guideline for cardiomyopathies provides the first comprehensive summary of genotyping, imaging, and therapy recommendations for inherited cardiomyopathies, but still lacks a comprehensive discussion of research advances and future trends in genetic diagnosis and therapy of HHD. Our research aims to fill this gap.

Background: Alport syndrome (AS) is a genetically heterogeneous disorder resulting from variants in genes coding for the alpha-3/4/5 chains of Collagen IV, leading to defective basement membranes in the kidney, cochlea, and eye. The clinical manifestations of AS vary in patients. Cases of childhood AS caused by presenting primarily with nephrotic syndrome (NS) are rarely reported.

Introduction: Focal atrial tachycardia (FAT) is predominant in the pediatric population. Recent research has identified cases of sustained FAT originating from the interatrial septum (IAS); a subset of cases presents a unique challenge, with foci originating from the peri-patent foramen ovale (peri-PFO), requiring specialized management during catheter ablation. Here, we present a rare case of peri-PFO-associated FAT that resulted in tachycardia-related cardiomyopathy and propose a comprehensive multipath joint strategy for the successful treatment of PFO-associated FAT.

Introduction: Prostate cancer is an androgen-dependent malignancy, and the use of androgen deprivation therapies frequently results in treatment resistance, relapse, and the development of aggressive castration-resistant tumors. Patchouli alcohol, a tricyclic sesquiterpene derived from Pogostemon cablin of the Labiatae family, has demonstrated potential in modulating inflammatory responses and tumor progression. This study aimed to investigate the mechanisms through which patchouli alcohol influences inflammatory pathways associated with prostate cancer using bioinformatics and experimental validation.

The essential cause of menopause is ovarian failure, which can cause decline in sex hormones (especially estrogen) that can increase the risk of metabolic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis. This study screened 1511 eligible patients from 2148 perimenopausal and postmenopausal women, measuring various physiological and biochemical indicators to analyze differences among age groups (40-44, 45-49, and 50-54 years) with laboratory techniques. The study found no significant difference in the incidence of cardiovascular disease betweenperimenopausal and postmenopausal women.

Patients with benzene-induced leukemia undergo a continuous transformation from myelosuppression to malignant proliferation. However, the underlying mechanisms in this process remain unknown. Our previous studies have shown that the pathways involved in self-renewal capacity of bone marrow (BM) cells in Mll-Af9 mice exposed to benzene for life are significantly activated after severe blood toxicity.

Congenital orofacial cleft, the most common birth defect in the maxillofacial region, exhibits a wide range of prognosis depending on the severity of deformity and underlying etiology. Non-syndromic congenital orofacial clefts typically present with milder deformities and more favorable treatment outcomes, whereas syndromic congenital orofacial clefts often manifest with concomitant organ abnormalities, which pose greater challenges for treatment and result in poorer prognosis. This consensus provides an elaborate classification system for varying degrees of orofacial clefts along with corresponding diagnostic and therapeutic guidelines.

Objective: The main objectives of our study are evaluating the health literacy level among women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in Southwest China and explore the influencing factors, using a multidimensional health literacy assessment scale (Chinese version of the HLS-14). Given that the HLS-14 has not been used in GDM previously, its reliability and validity testing was included as a secondary objective.
Method: It was a cross-sectional survey with 565 GDM pregnancies.

Background: Occupational fatigue is a widespread condition within the nursing workforce, adversely affecting both nurses' health and patient safety. The protracted duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, approaching 3 years, has exacerbated the challenges faced by nurses globally. The escalation in patient numbers and the high incidence of infections among healthcare workers have intensified occupational fatigue.
