Objective: Respiratory distress syndrome threatens neonates' life. This study probed the predictive value of lung ultrasound scores combined with serum angiopoietin-like protein 4 (ANGPTL4) levels on neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS) severity and prognosis.
Methods: The NRDS group (n = 115) and control group (n = 30) were established.

Objective: To establish a rat model of pharmacological ovariectomy by GnRH-a injection and to preliminarily investigate the reproductive endocrine effects of Xiangshao granules on pharmacologically ovariectomized rats.
Methods: A rat model of pharmacological ovariectomy was established by injecting female rats with Gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist(GnRH-a).The rats were randomly divided into four groups: GnRH-a injected saline group (GnRH-a + NS); GnRH-a injected oestradiol group (GnRH-a + E2); GnRH-a injected Xiangshao granule group (GnRH-a + Xiangshao), and the control group of saline-injected rats (NS + NS).

Purpose: To investigate the anti-tumor effect of Robinin (Toll-like receptor 2 inhibitor) in pancreatic cancer cells via regulating tumor microenvironment.
Methods: The effects of Robinin on cell proliferation or migration in Mia-PACA2 and PANC-1 were determined, using CCK8 or wound healing assay, respectively. The typical markers of EMT (αSMA and snail) and the inflammation markers (IL-6 and TNF-α) were all detected by western blot.

Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a malignancy with a 2 per 100 000 incidence rate in the world. Overall survival (OS) of patients in stage I-II disease is around 80%, whereas OS of patients in stage III-IVB disease drops to 60%, implying the importance of diagnosis to reduce NPC mortality. However, more than 70% patients of NPC were diagnosed at advanced stages (stage III and IV) in clinics, and it definitely contributes to little substantial improvement in the 5-year survival rates although NPC is sensitive to radio-and chemotherapy.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is one of the most common head and neck cancers. Early diagnosis plays a critical role in the treatment of NPC. To aid diagnosis, deep learning methods can provide interpretable clues for identifying NPC from magnetic resonance images (MRI).

Recent neuroimaging studies on upper-limb amputation have revealed the reorganization of bilateral sensorimotor cortex after sensory deprivation, underpinning the assumption of changes in the interhemispheric connections. In the present study, using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), we aim to explore the alterations in the interhemispheric functional and structural connectivity after upper-limb amputation. Twenty-two upper-limb amputees and 15 age- and sex-matched healthy controls were recruited for MRI scanning.

To explore the role and mechanism of polysaccharide-1 (syndecan-1) in the transformation of lung epithelial stroma (EMT) in rats with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Thirty male SD rats of clean grade were randomly divided into sham operation group (normal saline injection after tracheal exposure, =10), COPD group (fumigation after injection of 1 mg/ml lipopolysaccharide, transfection of 100 μl empty virus, =10) and syndecan-1 overexpression group (fumigation after injection of 1 mg/ml lipopolysaccharide, and transfection of 100 μl carrying rat syndecan-1 gene Ad-CMV-GFP-SDC1, =10), once a day for two weeks. After the treatment, the lung function was detected and lung tissues were collected.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate risk factors of occult carcinoma in clinically solitary papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) patients, and to put emphasis on the predictive value of risk-scoring model to determine the optimal scope of surgery.
Methods: A total of 573 clinically solitary PTC patients who underwent total thyroidectomy (TT) from two hospitals were retrospectively analyzed. Clinicopathological features were collected, univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to determine risk factors of occult carcinoma.

Accumulating data show that the phenotypes and functions of distinctive mucosal dendritic cells (DCs) in the gut are regulated by retinoic acid (RA). Unfortunately, the exact role of butyrate in RA-mediated mucosal DC differentiation has not been elucidated thoroughly to date. Mucosal-like dendritic cell differentiation was completed in vitro by culturing bone marrow cells with growth factors [granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF/interleukin (IL)-4], RA and/or butyrate.

Objective: To analyze the correlation between clinical features and cytogenetic finding of 45 adult patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and to assess the value of chromosomal examination for the diagnosis and prognosis.
Methods: Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) was utilized for detecting the BCR/ABL fusion gene and P53 gene. Median survival time (MST) of patients was compared using Log-rank test.
