Acquired bronchobiliary fistula (ABBF) is very rare among the complications that occur in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after treatment. Although surgery and drainage have been the main methods for treating ABBF for a long time, they are not entirely suitable for patients with refractory ABBF resulting from HCC therapy. In this study, we present four cases of ABBF caused by HCC treatment, who were treated using selective bronchial occlusion (SBO).

Stapled peptides are regarded as the promising next-generation therapeutics because of their improved secondary structure, membrane permeability and metabolic stability as compared with the prototype linear peptides. Usually, stapled peptides are obtained by a hydrocarbon stapling technique, anchoring from paired olefin-terminated unnatural amino acids and the consequent ring-closing metathesis (RCM). To investigate the adaptability of the rigid cyclobutane structure in RCM and expand the chemical diversity of hydrocarbon peptide stapling, we herein described the rational design and efficient synthesis of cyclobutane-based conformationally constrained amino acids, termed ()-1-amino-3-(but-3-en-1-yl)cyclobutane-1-carboxylic acid (E) and ()-1-amino-3-(but-3-en-1-yl)cyclobutane-1-carboxylic acid (Z).

To date, [3 + 2] cycloadditions of diazo esters with alkynes or alkenes have been a robust tool to generate pyrazoles and pyrazolines. However, methods capable of generating donor/donor diazo species from readily available -tosylhydrazones to furnish [3 + 2] cycloadditions, remain elusive. Herein, we describe the first visible-light-induced [3 + 2] cycloadditions of donor/donor diazo precursors with alkenes to afford pyrazoles and novel (spiro)pyrazolines bearing a quaternary center.

Ionizing radiation (IR) has been extensively used for cancer therapy, but the radioresistance hinders and undermines the radiotherapy efficacy in clinics greatly. Here, we reported that the spliceosomal protein thioredoxin-like 4B (TXNL4B) is highly expressed in lung tissues from lung cancer patients with radiotherapy. Lung cancer cells with TXNL4B knockdown illustrate increased sensitivity to IR.

RNA modification includes four main types, N6-methyladenosine, N1-methyladenosine, alternative polyadenylation (APA), and adenosine-to-inosine (A-to-I) RNA editing, involving 41 enzymes that serve as "writers", "readers" and "erasers". By collecting RNA modifying enzyme information in 1759 hepatobiliary malignancy (HBM) samples from 11 datasets, an RNA modification HBM Score (RH_score) was established based on unsupervised cluster analysis of RNA modification-associated differentially expressed genes (DEGs). We identified the imbalanced expression of 41 RNA modification enzymes in HBM, which was scientifically categorized into two groups: RH_Score high and RH_Score low.

Mitochondrial dysfunction is considered to be a key contributor to the development of heart failure. Replacing injured mitochondria with healthy mitochondria to restore mitochondrial bioenergy in myocardium holds great promise for cardioprotection after infarction. This study aimed to investigate whether direct transplantation of exogenous mitochondria derived from mesenchymal stem cells (MSC-mt) is beneficial and superior in protecting cardiac function in a mouse model of myocardial infarction (MI) compared to mitochondria derived from skin fibroblast (FB-mt) and to explore the underlying mechanisms from their effects on the endothelial cells.
