Dysregulated metabolism, cell death, and inflammation contribute to the development of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Pyroptosis, a recently identified form of programmed cell death, is closely linked to inflammation. However, the precise role of pyroptosis, particularly gasdermin-E (GSDME), in MASH development remains unknown.

Cancer is a destructive disease and is currently the leading cause of major threats to human health. PLBD1 is a transcription factor that regulates phospholipid metabolism, but its role in tumors is unknown. We assessed pan-cancer expression, methylation, and mutation data of PLBD1 by multiple databases to investigate its clinical prognostic value.

Background: The value of serum biomarkers, particularly alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and protein induced by vitamin K absence or antagonist-II (PIVKA-II), gains increasing attention in prognostic evaluation and recurrence monitoring for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This study investigated the implications of serological incomplete conversion (SIC) of these 2 biomarkers as prognostic indicators for long-term outcomes after HCC resection.
Methods: A multicenter observational study was conducted on a cohort of HCC patients presenting with AFP (>20 ng/mL) or PIVKA-II (>40 mAU/mL) positivity who underwent curative-intent resection.

Polymer-mediated cytosolic protein delivery demonstrates a promising strategy for the development of protein therapeutics. Here, we propose a new designed diblock copolymer which realizes efficient cytosolic protein delivery both in vitro and in vivo. The polymer contains one protein-binding block composed of phenylboronic acid (PBA) and N-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) (DMAP) pendant units for protein binding and endosomal escape, respectively, followed by the response to ATP enriched in the cytosol which triggers the protein release.

As a cutting-edge technology of connecting biological brain and external devices, brain-computer interface (BCI) exhibits promising applications on extensive fields such as medical and military. As for the disable individuals with four limbs losing the motor functions, it is a potential treatment way to drive mechanical equipments by the means of non-invasive BCI, which is badly depended on the accuracy of the decoded electroencephalogram (EEG) singles. In this study, an explanatory convolutional neural network namely EEGNet based on SimAM attention module was proposed to enhance the accuracy of decoding the EEG singles of index and thumb fingers for both left and right hand using sensory motor rhythm (SMR).

USP25 encodes ubiquitin-specific protease 25, a key member of the deubiquitinating enzyme family that is involved in neural fate determination. Although abnormal expression in Down's syndrome was reported previously, the specific role of USP25 in human diseases has not been defined. In this study, we performed trio-based whole exome sequencing in a cohort of 319 cases (families) with generalized epilepsy of unknown aetiology.

Purpose: Renal impairment (RI) is associated with unfavourable outcome after acute ischaemic stroke with anterior circulation large vessel occlusion. We assessed the association of RI with clinical outcomes in patients with acute basilar artery occlusion (ABAO), and the impact of RI on the effects of endovascular therapy (EVT) versus standard medical treatment (SMT).
Patients And Methods: We used data from the BASILAR registry, an observational, prospective, nationwide study of patients with ABAO in routine clinical practice in China.

Background: Nemonoxacin malate is a novel non-fluorinated quinolone for oral and intravenous (IV) administration. This phase 3, multicentre, randomised, double-blind, double-dummy, parallel-controlled clinical trial (NCT02205112) evaluated the efficacy and safety of IV nemonoxacin vs. levofloxacin for the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in adult patients.

Background: Pressure injuries are present in all healthcare environments and not only pose a significant health risk to individuals but also impose a heavy economic burden on society and families. Nurses, as the primary caregivers responsible for the prevention and management of pressure injuries, have knowledge that directly determines the incidence of pressure injuries.
Aim: To understand the current status of nurses' knowledge of pressure injuries in Shaanxi Province and the factors influencing it.

Extracellular vesicles are essential for intercellular communication and are involved in tumor progression. Inhibiting the direct release of extracellular vesicles seems to be an effective strategy in inhibiting tumor progression, but lacks of investigation. Here, we report a natural flavonoid compound, apigenin, could significantly inhibit the growth of hepatocellular carcinoma by preventing microvesicle secretion.

Background: Thrombocytopenia 2, an autosomal dominant inherited disease characterized by moderate thrombocytopenia, predisposition to myeloid malignancies and normal platelet size and function, can be caused by 5'-untranslated region (UTR) point mutations in ankyrin repeat domain containing 26 (ANKRD26). Runt related transcription factor 1 (RUNX1) and friend leukemia integration 1 (FLI1) have been identified as negative regulators of . However, the positive regulators of are still unknown.

At present, there are no official approved drugs for improving muscle endurance. Our previous research found acute phase protein orosomucoid (ORM) is an endogenous anti-fatigue protein, and macrolides antibiotics erythromycin can elevate ORM level to increase muscle bioenergetics and endurance parameters. Here, we further designed, synthesized and screened a new erythromycin derivative named HMS-01, which lost its antibacterial activity in vitro and in vivo.

Cisplatin is widely used in tumor chemotherapy, but nephrotoxicity is an unavoidable side effect of cisplatin. Several studies have demonstrated that mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) ameliorate cisplatin-induced kidney injury, but the underlying mechanisms are unknown. In this study, the cisplatin-induced kidney injury mouse model was established by subjecting a single intraperitoneal injection with cisplatin.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the factors associated with pathologic node-negativity (ypN0) in patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) to develop and validate an accurate prediction nomogram.
Methods: The CSBrS-012 study (2010-2020) included female patients with primary breast cancer treated with NAC followed by breast and axillary surgery in 20 hospitals across China. In the present study, 7,711 eligible patients were included, comprising 6,428 patients in the primary cohort from 15 hospitals and 1,283 patients in the external validation cohort from five hospitals.
