Gentamycin irrigation significantly reduces 28-day surgical site infection after emergency neurosurgery.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of gentamycin irrigation in preventing postoperative surgical site infection (SSI) in emergency neurosurgical procedures.

Methods: A total of 518 consecutive emergency neurosurgeries, including craniotomies, endoscopic and burr hole procedures were reviewed retrospectively. Patients received either only normal saline (NS) irrigation or NS irrigation with gentamycin added (80 mg/L) during the whole process of surgery.

The present study reported on cases of pneumothorax directly after BT and retrospectively analyzed early radiologic and bronchoscopic modifications after BT.

A comprehensive immune repertoire study for patients with pulmonary tuberculosis.

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is a major global health problem and has replaced HIV as the leading cause of death from a single infectious agent.

Methods: Here, we applied high throughput sequencing to study the immune repertoire of nine pulmonary tuberculosis patients and nine healthy control samples.

Results: Tuberculosis patients and healthy controls displayed significantly different high express clones and distinguishable sharing of CDR3 sequences.

Up to date, little is known about the role of LINC00675 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). In this study, we aimed to explore the expression pattern, clinical significance and biological function of LINC00675 in ESCC.

The present study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic value of platelet-derived microparticles in PTE based on a population study. A total of 102 patients with PTE, 102 healthy controls and 40 patients suspected with PTE were enrolled in this study.

We developed a facile and green bio-inspired strategy to fabricate silver nano-particles growth in-situ on different scaffolds materials, building novel heterostructures for promoting their antibacterial activities and durability. Firstly, fluorinated graphene oxide (FGO) nanosheets, layered molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), and layered tungsten disulfide (WS2) were exfoliated by chemical liquid with intense sonication. And silicon dioxide (SiO2) nano-spheres were prepared via wet chemical method.

Immunology repertoire study of pulmonary sarcoidosis T cells in CD4+, CD8+ PBMC and tissue.

Sarcoidosis is a systemic granulomatous disorder highly related with immune response. The diversity and stability of the immune system could be measured by hypervariable complementarity-determining region 3 (CDR3) segments of the T cell receptor (TCR). Here we used a combination of multiplex PCR and next-generation sequencing to conduct a good quality analysis of the T-cell receptor BV complementarity-determining region 3 (TCR BV CDR3) gene in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from 7 sarcoidosis patients and lung sarcoidosis tissue from 6 patients.

Association between XRCC1 polymorphisms and laryngeal cancer susceptibility in a Chinese sample population.

Laryngeal cancer is the major malignant tumor affecting the upper respiratory tract. Previous studies have reported on the association between XRCC1 genetic polymorphisms and risk of laryngeal cancer, but with conflicting results. In this study, we attempted to assess the association between XRCC1 Arg194Trp, Arg280His and Arg399Gln polymorphisms and risk of laryngeal cancer in a Chinese population.

Necroptosis is a newly identified programmed necrosis that is mediated by receptor interacting protein 3 (RIP3). However, the potential involvement and impact of necroptosis in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced ARDS remains unknown.

Methods: A total of 312 children with ADHD were involved in this study. Subtypes of co-morbid TD, incidences of TD in different subtypes of ADHD (ADHD-I, ADHD-HI and ADHD-C) were observed.

Methods: Sex composition, risk factors, comorbidities, intelligence quotient and behavioral problems were investigated in 175 children with ADHD who met the Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder Criteria (DSM-IV). The children were classified into three groups: ADHD predominantly inattentive (ADHD-I, n=82), ADHD predominantly hyperactive-impulsive (ADHD-HI, n=24) and ADHD combined type (ADHD-C, n=69).

Methods: The relative literature were investigated and classified.

Results: It was verifiable that the record of Monascus Rice in Chu Xue Ji ([Chinese characters: see text]), a subject-based reference book compiled by Xu Jian in the Tang Dynasty, was excerpted from the metrical verse Qi Shi ([Chinese characters: see text]) written by Wang Can in the Dong Han Dynasty.

[Foreign body in tracheobronchial diagnosed as pneumonia from children].
