Background: Congenital infantile fibrosarcoma (CIF) and congenital hemangioma (CH) have similarities on prenatal ultrasound and are rare.

Case Summary: We report 3 cases of fetuses with superficial hypervascular tumors, confirmed by postnatal pathology as CIF (1 case) and CH (2 cases, including 1 in a twin fetus). In Case 1, a mass with a rich blood supply in the fetal axilla was discovered by prenatal ultrasound at 28+0 wk of gestation.

Objective: To evaluate the expression of thymidylate synthase (TS) in myoepithelial cells (MECs) of salivary adenoid tissues and explore its clinical significance.

Methods: Immunohistochemical staining EnVision method was used to detect the expression of TS, P63, Calponin, CK5/6 and S-100 in 32 salivary gland specimens, including 10 non-neoplastic and salivary inflammation specimens, 11 mixed tumor specimens, 5 basal cell carcinoma specimens and 6 adenoid cyst carcinoma specimens. The specificity and sensitivity of TS as a specific molecular marker of salivary muscle epithelial cells were evaluated in comparison with P63, Calponin, CK5/6 and S-100.

Purpose: Paclitaxel is an integral component of primary therapy for breast and epithelial ovarian cancers, but less than half of these cancers respond to the drug. : Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary liver cancer histotype, characterized by high biological aggressiveness and scarce treatment options. Recently, we have established a clinically relevant murine HCC model by co-expressing activated forms of v-akt murine thymoma viral oncogene homolog (AKT) and oncogene c-mesenchymal-epithelial transition (c-Met) proto-oncogenes in the mouse liver via hydrodynamic tail vein injection (AKT/c-MET mice). Tumor cells from these mice demonstrated high activity of the AKT/ mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) and Ras/ Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling cascades, two pathways frequently co-induced in human HCC.

Benign chronic familial pemphigus or Hailey-Hailey disease (HHD, OMIM 169600) is a rare, autosomal dominant blistering skin disorder characterized by suprabasal cell separation (acantholysis) of the epidermis. To date, the proteomic changes in skin lesions from HHD patients has not been reported yet. Histone deacetylases (HDACs) can regulate cell-cycle, differentiation, and apoptosis of hepatocarcinoma (HCC) cells, while their roles in drug sensitivity remain unclear. Our results showed that the expression of HDAC2 was significantly increased in HCC doxorubicin (Dox) resistant cells as compared with their corresponding control cells. Over expression of HDAC2 can increase the cell viability and decrease the Dox sensitivity.
