Recent investigations have elucidated microRNA-193a (miR-193a) as a pivotal modulator in DN, although its precise function in podocyte impairment remains obscure. The present study investigated the role of miR-193a in podocyte injury via the WT1/EZH2/β-catenin/NLRP3 pathway.

Precision reduction of femoral neck fractures: a novel strategy based on the femoral neck fracture morphology.

In femoral neck fractures the secondary damage caused by repeated multiple reductions needs to be prevented. Accordingly, the aim of this study was to achieve an anatomical reduction in the first manipulation of reduction in femoral neck fractures. We propose a new reduction strategy using the x-ray morphology of femoral neck fractures for preoperative planning.

A trans-umbilical single-site plus one robotic-assisted surgery for choledochal cyst resection in children.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to compare the intraoperative and postoperative outcomes of a trans-umbilical single-site plus one robot-assisted surgery and a trans-umbilical single-site laparoscopic surgery in the treatment of choledochal cysts.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed clinical data from 49 children diagnosed with choledochal cysts who were admitted to our hospital between June 2020 and December 2023. Among these patients, 24 underwent a trans-umbilical single-site plus one Da Vinci robot-assisted surgery (the robot group) and 25 underwent a trans-umbilical single-site laparoscopic-assisted surgery (the laparoscopic group).

Clinical applications of metagenomic next-generation sequencing in the identification of pathogens in periprosthetic joint infections: a retrospective study.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the application of metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) technology to identify pathogens in periprosthetic joint infection (PJI).

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 65 patients suspected of having PJI between April 2020 and July 2023. The patients were categorized into PJI (46 patients) and non-PJI (19 patients) groups based on the 2018 International Consensus Meeting criteria.

Purpose: Medial humeral condyle (MHC) fractures are easily overlooked in young patients. Background: Simvastatin (Sim), a hydroxy-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitor, has been widely used in prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Studies have suggested that Sim exerts anti-fibrotic effects by interfering fibroblast proliferation and collagen synthesis. This study was to determine whether Sim could alleviate silica-induced pulmonary fibrosis and explore the underlying mechanisms.

Comparison of femoral neck shortening after femoral neck system and cannulated cancellous screw fixation for displaced femoral neck fractures in young adults.

Background: The purpose of this study was to compare the outcomes of femoral neck shortening between the femoral neck system (FNS) and the cannulated cancellous screws (CCS) for displaced femoral neck fractures in young adults PATIENTS AND METHODS: In this retrospective analysis, 225 patients aged 18-65 years with displaced femoral neck fracture were divided into two groups according to internal fixation: 135 patients in the FNS group and 90 patients in the CCS group. The length of hospital stay, duration of surgery, intraoperative blood loss, quality of reduction, extent of femoral neck shortening, incidence of femoral neck shortening, femoral neck shortening at each follow-up visit, Harris hip score (HHS), reoperation, and complications were compared between the two groups.

Results: The median follow-up time was 28.

Pre-sliding technique to improve femoral neck system against the shortening: a retrospective cohort study.

Objective: To investigate the efficacy of using pre-sliding technique to prevent postoperative shortening of displaced femoral neck fracture fixed with femoral neck system (FNS).

Methods: Retrospective analysis of 110 cases of displaced femoral neck fracture treated with femoral neck system from September 2019 to November 2022 in our center, which were divided into 56 cases in the pre-sliding group and 54 cases in the traditional group. The baseline data such as gender, age, side, mechanism of injury, fracture type, operation time, intraoperative bleeding were recorded and compared between the two groups, and the quality of fracture reduction, shortening distance, Tip Apex Distance (TAD), union time, Harris score of the hip were also compared between the two groups.
