Diabetic nephropathy (DN), an eminent etiology of renal disease in patients with diabetes, involves intricate molecular mechanisms. Recent investigations have elucidated microRNA-193a (miR-193a) as a pivotal modulator in DN, although its precise function in podocyte impairment remains obscure. The present study investigated the role of miR-193a in podocyte injury via the WT1/EZH2/β-catenin/NLRP3 pathway.

Introduction: A series of functional disorders commonly occur after stroke, of which upper limb dysfunction is the most difficult to recover. The upper limb rehabilitation effect of Tai Chi Yunshou(TCY) in the later stage of stroke has been confirmed by research. Body weight support-Tai Chi Yunshou (BWS-TCY) is based on TCY exercise and robotic exoskeletons offers most flexibility in deweighting and control strategy.

Precision reduction of femoral neck fractures: a novel strategy based on the femoral neck fracture morphology.

Sci Rep

July 2024

Department of Orthopaedics, Fuzhou Second General Hospital, Fuzhou Second Hospital of Xiamen University, School of Clinical Medicine of Fujian Medical University, Fujian Provincial Clinical Medical Research Center for First Aid and Rehabilitation in Orthopaedic Trauma, Fuzhou, 350007, China.

In femoral neck fractures the secondary damage caused by repeated multiple reductions needs to be prevented. Accordingly, the aim of this study was to achieve an anatomical reduction in the first manipulation of reduction in femoral neck fractures. We propose a new reduction strategy using the x-ray morphology of femoral neck fractures for preoperative planning.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to compare the intraoperative and postoperative outcomes of a trans-umbilical single-site plus one robot-assisted surgery and a trans-umbilical single-site laparoscopic surgery in the treatment of choledochal cysts.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed clinical data from 49 children diagnosed with choledochal cysts who were admitted to our hospital between June 2020 and December 2023. Among these patients, 24 underwent a trans-umbilical single-site plus one Da Vinci robot-assisted surgery (the robot group) and 25 underwent a trans-umbilical single-site laparoscopic-assisted surgery (the laparoscopic group).

  • Researchers created water-soluble carbon dots (Si-CDs) that emit blue light and have a high photoluminescence quantum yield of 80%, using a single-step hydrothermal method, which makes them efficient for biological imaging.
  • The Si-CDs are robust, biocompatible, and enhance the measurement of acid phosphatase (ACP), an important marker in cancer diagnosis, through a unique fluorescence response method.
  • They effectively detect ACP levels in human serum with high sensitivity (detection limit of 0.056 U/L) and successfully stain A549 cancer cells for long-term imaging, showcasing their versatile potential in biomedical applications.

Recommendations on the use of acupuncture in managing low back pain (LBP) vary across different guidelines. The methodological quality of existing systematic reviews and meta-analyses on this topic also demonstrates considerable diversity, potentially leading to biased conclusions. Therefore, we comprehensively searched PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) databases and conducted an umbrella review.

Purpose: Medial humeral condyle (MHC) fractures are easily overlooked in young patients. This can lead to delayed or incorrect diagnosis, resulting in delayed treatment, which is often associated with complications such as nonunion, osteonecrosis, fishtail deformity, and cubitus varus. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical and radiographic outcomes in a cohort of paediatric patients who underwent delayed surgery for an untreated MHC fracture.

Background: Simvastatin (Sim), a hydroxy-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitor, has been widely used in prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Studies have suggested that Sim exerts anti-fibrotic effects by interfering fibroblast proliferation and collagen synthesis. This study was to determine whether Sim could alleviate silica-induced pulmonary fibrosis and explore the underlying mechanisms.

The prevalence of obesity and its primary associated comorbidities, such as type 2 diabetes and fatty liver disease, has reached epidemic proportions, with no successful treatment available at present. Heat shock protein 90 (HSP90), a crucial chaperone, plays a key role in lipogenesis (DNL) by stabilizing and maintaining sterol regulatory element binding protein (SREBP) activity. Kongensin A (KA), derived from , inhibits RIP3-mediated necrosis, showing promise as an anti-necrotic and anti-inflammatory agent.
