Background: Bladder cancer (BC) is the sixth most common cancer and the ninth leading cause of cancer death among men in the world. Previous studies have shown that tumor hypoxia plays an important role in the occurrence and development of BC, but the role of tumor hypoxia in the prognosis and immune infiltration of BC remains unclear. Our aim was to perform a bioinformatics analysis combined with a clinical analysis to explore the roles of hypoxia in BC.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the long-term consequences on the cervical spine after Anterior transcorporeal percutaneous endoscopy cervical discectomy (ATc-PECD) from the biomechanical standpoint.
Methods: A three-dimensional model of the normal cervical spine C2-T1 was established using finite element method. Subsequently, a disc degeneration model and degeneration with surgery model were constructed on the basis of the normal model.

Background: Cannabidiol (CBD), the major non-psychoactive component of cannabis, exhibits anti-inflammatory properties, but less is known about the immunomodulatory potential of CBD on activated natural killer (NK) cells and/or their targets. Many tumor cells present heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) on their cell surface in a tumor-specific manner and although a membrane Hsp70 (mHsp70) positive phenotype serves as a target for Hsp70-activated NK cells, a high mHsp70 expression is associated with tumor aggressiveness. This study investigated the immuno-modulatory potential of CBD on NK cells stimulated with TKD Hsp70 peptide and IL-2 (TKD+IL-2) and also on HCT116 p53wt and HCT116 p53-/- colorectal cancer cells exhibiting high and low basal levels of mHsp70 expression.

Background: Bladder cancer (BLCA) was recognized as a significant public health challenge due to its high incidence and mortality rates. The influence of molecular subtypes on treatment outcomes was well-acknowledged, necessitating further exploration of their characterization and application. This study was aimed at enhancing the understanding of BLCA by mapping its molecular heterogeneity and developing a robust prognostic model using single-cell and bulk RNA sequencing data.

Background: Metabolic syndrome(MetS) and depression are independently associated with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) risk. However, little is known about the combined effect of MetS and depression on the risk of T2DM. The present study aims to prospectively explore the impact of MetS and depression on T2DM susceptibility among the Chinese general population.

Background: With the remarkable effect of controlling the increase in drug costs by the first batch of National Key Monitoring and Rational Use Drugs (first NKMRUDs), the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China releases the second NKMRUDs to further strengthen the reasonable use of drugs. Unfortunately, the second NKMRUDs include some drugs of National Volume-based Procurement and National Essential Medicines, which challenges the management of pharmaceutical affairs on the three kinds of drugs.
Objective: The main objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence of the second NKMRUDs and explore their monitoring indicators.

To the best of our knowledge, N6-Methyladenosine (m6A) exerts a significant role in the occurrence and development of various tumors. Gastric cancer (GC), originating from the mucosal epithelium in the digestive tract, is the fifth most common cancer and the third most common cause of cancer death around the world. Therefore, it is urgent to explore the specific mechanism of tumorigenesis of GC.

The circular RNA (circRNA) family is a group of endogenous non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) that have critical functions in multiple physiological and pathological processes, including inflammation, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases. However, their roles in regulating innate immune responses remain unclear. Here, we define Cell division cycle 42 (CDC42)-165aa, a protein encoded by circRNA circCDC42, which is overexpressed in Klebsiella pneumoniae (KP)-infected alveolar macrophages.

This study aimed to explore the molecular mechanism underlying the prognostic role of ancient ubiquitous protein 1 (AUP1) in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and its relationship with the tumor immune microenvironment. Various web resources were used to analyze the differential expression of AUP1 and its role in the HNSCC pathogenesis. A nomogram aimed at predicting 1-, 3-, and 5-year survival rates was developed based on the patient's clinicopathological characteristics and AUP1 expression pattern.

Sarcomatoid renal cell carcinoma (SRCC), a manifestation of sarcomatoid dedifferentiation in renal cell carcinoma, is characterized by elevated invasiveness and a grim prognosis. Typically, SRCC patients present with advanced or metastatic conditions and survival rates rarely extend beyond one year. In this study, we describe a case of SRCC characterized by the patient exhibiting right flank pain without hematuria.

This study aims to investigate the role of claudin-5 (Cldn5) in cardiac structural integrity. Proteomic analysis was performed to screen the protein profiles in enlarged left atrium from atrial fibrillation (AF) patients. Cldn5 shRNA adeno-associated virus (AAV) or siRNA was injected into the mouse left ventricle or added into HL1 cells respectively to knockdown Cldn5 in cardiomyocytes to observe whether the change of Cldn5 influences cardiac morphology and function, and affects those protein expressions stem from the proteomic analysis.

The exploration of the next-generation small diameter vascular grafts (SDVGs) will never stop until they possess high biocompatibility and patency comparable to autologous native blood vessels. Integrating biocompatible electrospinning (ES) matrices with highly bioactive stem cells (SCs) provides a rational and promising solution. ES is a simple, fast, flexible and universal technology to prepare extracellular matrix-like fibrous scaffolds in large scale, while SCs are valuable, multifunctional and favorable seed cells with special characteristics for the emerging field of cell therapy and regenerative medicine.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases, yet effective treatment is lacking. Moreover, the underlying pathomechanisms of ALS remain unclear, with impaired mitophagy function being increasingly recognized as a contributing factor. FUN14 domain-containing protein 1 (FUNDC1) is an autophagy receptor localized to the outer mitochondrial membrane and a mitochondrial membrane protein that mediates mitophagy and therefore considered as important factor in neurodegenerative diseases.

Excessive accumulation of exudate from wounds often causes infection and hinders skin regeneration. To handle wound exudate quickly and prevent infection, we developed an antibacterial Janus nanofibrous dressing with a unidirectional water-transport function. The dressing consists of a hydrophilic chitosan aerogel (CS-A) as the outer layer and a hydrophobic laurylated chitosan (La-CS) nanofibrous membrane as the inner layer.
