Tumor hypoxia in immune infiltration and prognosis of bladder cancer.

Background: Bladder cancer (BC) is the sixth most common cancer and the ninth leading cause of cancer death among men in the world. Previous studies have shown that tumor hypoxia plays an important role in the occurrence and development of BC, but the role of tumor hypoxia in the prognosis and immune infiltration of BC remains unclear. Our aim was to perform a bioinformatics analysis combined with a clinical analysis to explore the roles of hypoxia in BC.

Methods: A three-dimensional model of the normal cervical spine C2-T1 was established using finite element method. Subsequently, a disc degeneration model and degeneration with surgery model were constructed on the basis of the normal model.

Background: Cannabidiol (CBD), the major non-psychoactive component of cannabis, exhibits anti-inflammatory properties, but less is known about the immunomodulatory potential of CBD on activated natural killer (NK) cells and/or their targets. Many tumor cells present heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) on their cell surface in a tumor-specific manner and although a membrane Hsp70 (mHsp70) positive phenotype serves as a target for Hsp70-activated NK cells, a high mHsp70 expression is associated with tumor aggressiveness. This study investigated the immuno-modulatory potential of CBD on NK cells stimulated with TKD Hsp70 peptide and IL-2 (TKD+IL-2) and also on HCT116 p53wt and HCT116 p53-/- colorectal cancer cells exhibiting high and low basal levels of mHsp70 expression.

Background: Metabolic syndrome(MetS) and depression are independently associated with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) risk. However, little is known about the combined effect of MetS and depression on the risk of T2DM. The present study aims to prospectively explore the impact of MetS and depression on T2DM susceptibility among the Chinese general population.

A point prevalence survey and monitoring indicator research on the second batch of national key monitoring and rational use drugs.

Background: With the remarkable effect of controlling the increase in drug costs by the first batch of National Key Monitoring and Rational Use Drugs (first NKMRUDs), the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China releases the second NKMRUDs to further strengthen the reasonable use of drugs. Unfortunately, the second NKMRUDs include some drugs of National Volume-based Procurement and National Essential Medicines, which challenges the management of pharmaceutical affairs on the three kinds of drugs.

Objective: The main objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence of the second NKMRUDs and explore their monitoring indicators.

[Research Progress in the Role of the Ventral Tegmental Area-Medial Prefrontal Cortex Neural Circuit in the Regulation of Arousal].

There are mutual neural projections between the ventral tegmental area (VTA) and the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC),which form a circuit.Recent studies have shown that this circuit is vital in regulating arousal from sleep and general anesthesia.This paper introduces the anatomical structures of VTA and mPFC and the roles of various neurons and projection pathways in the regulation of arousal,aiming to provide new ideas for further research on the mechanism of arousal from sleep and general anesthesia.

Increased Immune Infiltration and Improved Prognosis of Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma Associated with Reduced Ancient Ubiquitous Protein 1 Gene Expression.

This study aimed to explore the molecular mechanism underlying the prognostic role of ancient ubiquitous protein 1 (AUP1) in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and its relationship with the tumor immune microenvironment. Various web resources were used to analyze the differential expression of AUP1 and its role in the HNSCC pathogenesis. A nomogram aimed at predicting 1-, 3-, and 5-year survival rates was developed based on the patient's clinicopathological characteristics and AUP1 expression pattern.

Background: The Gastrodia elata Bl. is an orchid, and its growth demands the presence of Armillaria species. The strong competitiveness of Armillaria species has always been a concern of major threat to other soil organisms, thus disrupting the equilibrium of soil biodiversity.

Case report: Sarcomatoid renal cell carcinoma masquerading as hydronephrosis.

Sarcomatoid renal cell carcinoma (SRCC), a manifestation of sarcomatoid dedifferentiation in renal cell carcinoma, is characterized by elevated invasiveness and a grim prognosis. Typically, SRCC patients present with advanced or metastatic conditions and survival rates rarely extend beyond one year. In this study, we describe a case of SRCC characterized by the patient exhibiting right flank pain without hematuria.

A novel function of claudin-5 in maintaining the structural integrity of the heart and its implications in cardiac pathology.

This study aims to investigate the role of claudin-5 (Cldn5) in cardiac structural integrity. Proteomic analysis was performed to screen the protein profiles in enlarged left atrium from atrial fibrillation (AF) patients. Cldn5 shRNA adeno-associated virus (AAV) or siRNA was injected into the mouse left ventricle or added into HL1 cells respectively to knockdown Cldn5 in cardiomyocytes to observe whether the change of Cldn5 influences cardiac morphology and function, and affects those protein expressions stem from the proteomic analysis.

[Research progress of the role of non-coding RNA in hyperoxia-induced acute lung injury].

Hyperoxia-induced acute lung injury (HALI) is an important complication of clinical oxygen therapy, which is mainly characterized by acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in adults and broncho-pulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in infants. HALI seriously affects the prognosis and quality of life of patients, so it has received more and more attention. However, the pathogenesis of HALI is complex and unclear, and there is no clear treatment method at present.

Small diameter vascular grafts: progress on electrospinning matrix/stem cell blending approach.

The exploration of the next-generation small diameter vascular grafts (SDVGs) will never stop until they possess high biocompatibility and patency comparable to autologous native blood vessels. Integrating biocompatible electrospinning (ES) matrices with highly bioactive stem cells (SCs) provides a rational and promising solution. ES is a simple, fast, flexible and universal technology to prepare extracellular matrix-like fibrous scaffolds in large scale, while SCs are valuable, multifunctional and favorable seed cells with special characteristics for the emerging field of cell therapy and regenerative medicine.

Mullerian adenosarcoma of the uterus with MASO: a case report of cervical adenosarcoma in a young female that never had sexual behavior.

Background: Cervical mullerian adenosarcoma is a rare uterine sarcoma, especially in young women. Its pathological features are low-grade malignant tumors with bidirectional differentiation, and the degree of malignancy is similar to that of low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma. This paper reports the case of a young asexual patient who has been closely followed up after tumor resection and has not had any recurrences.

CPADS: a web tool for comprehensive pancancer analysis of drug sensitivity.

Drug therapy is vital in cancer treatment. Accurate analysis of drug sensitivity for specific cancers can guide healthcare professionals in prescribing drugs, leading to improved patient survival and quality of life. However, there is a lack of web-based tools that offer comprehensive visualization and analysis of pancancer drug sensitivity.

FUDNC1-dependent mitophagy ameliorate motor neuron death in an amyotrophic lateral sclerosis mouse model.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases, yet effective treatment is lacking. Moreover, the underlying pathomechanisms of ALS remain unclear, with impaired mitophagy function being increasingly recognized as a contributing factor. FUN14 domain-containing protein 1 (FUNDC1) is an autophagy receptor localized to the outer mitochondrial membrane and a mitochondrial membrane protein that mediates mitophagy and therefore considered as important factor in neurodegenerative diseases.

A Single-Arm Multi-Center Phase II Clinical Trial of Cadonilimab (anti-PD-1/CTLA-4) in Combination with or without Conventional Second-Line Treatment for Patients with Extensive Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer.

Background: Cadonilimab (AK104) is a bispecific IgG-single-chain Fv fragment (ScFv) antibody that binds to PD-1 and CTLA-4. Cadonilimab has shown encouraging anti-tumour activity and a favourable safety profile in several tumour types. In second-line treatment, there is no defined standard of care for patients with extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC).

A unidirectional water-transport antibacterial bilayer nanofibrous dressing based on chitosan for accelerating wound healing.

Excessive accumulation of exudate from wounds often causes infection and hinders skin regeneration. To handle wound exudate quickly and prevent infection, we developed an antibacterial Janus nanofibrous dressing with a unidirectional water-transport function. The dressing consists of a hydrophilic chitosan aerogel (CS-A) as the outer layer and a hydrophobic laurylated chitosan (La-CS) nanofibrous membrane as the inner layer.
