Guan Chang Fu Fang (GCFF) is a natural compound, which is extracted from three medicinal plants, Ledeb and L GCFF has demonstrated clinical efficacy in the treatment of colon cancer. At present, 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) is the primary active chemotherapeutic agent used for treating colon cancer. Using median-effect and apoptosis analyses, fluorescence microscopy and western blotting, the present study analyzed the association between GCFF and 5-FU in the human colon adenocarcinoma LoVo cell line.

Background: For more than 240 million chronic HBV carriers worldwide, effective therapeutic HBV vaccines are urgently needed. Recently, we demonstrated that autophagosomes were efficient antigens carriers and capable to cross-prime robust T-cell responses and mediate regression of multiple established tumors. Here we tested whether autophagosomes derived from HBV expressing cells could also function as a therapeutic vaccine.

Electronic address:

Our previous studies have showed that tumor-derived autophagosomes (termed "DRibbles") induce B cell activation, resulting in antibody production and cytokine secretion. Unexpectedly, we found that unfractionated splenocytes produced a higher level of antibody and cytokine than that of purified B cells. In the current study, we investigated the role of accessory cells in DRibbles-induced B cell activation.

Tumor-derived autophagosomes (DRibble) selectively capture tumor-specific antigens and induce a dramatic T-cell activation and expansion when injected into lymph nodes of naive mice. Both dendritic and B cells can efficiently cross-prime antigen-specific T cells. In this report, we demonstrated that a booster vaccination with naive B cells loaded with DRibbles eradicated E.

Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide. Cancer treatments by chemotherapeutic agents, surgery, and radiation have not been highly effective in reducing the incidence of cancers and increasing the survival rate of cancer patients. In recent years, plant-derived compounds have attracted considerable attention as alternative cancer remedies for enhancing cancer prevention and treatment because of their low toxicities, low costs, and low side effects.

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) originate from the primary tumor mass and enter into the peripheral bloodstream. CTCs hold the key to understanding the biology of metastasis and also play a vital role in cancer diagnosis, prognosis, disease monitoring, and personalized therapy. However, CTCs are rare in blood and hard to isolate.

Aim: To investigate the effect of mesothelin in the remodeling of the endocrine pancreas in neonatal rats.

Methods: Overexpression or downregulation of mesothelin expression in INS-1 cells was carried out to investigate the effect of mesothelin during cell proliferation and cell apoptosis in vitro. Adenovirus-mediated RNA interference was performed to block mesothelin in vivo to directly assess the role of mesothelin in the remodeling of the endocrine pancreas in neonatal rats.

AZGP1 is a multifaceted protein associated with lipid mobilization, a process that is regulated by FASN and other metabolic pathways such as mTOR signaling. The active mTOR signaling pathway has been found to be involved in a variety of tumors. However, it remains unclear whether it is involved in the regulation of AZGP1 and FASN.

Objectives: Cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen-4 (CTLA4, CD152) is one of the most fundamental immunosuppressive cytokines that inhibits T-cell activation and terminates the T-cell response by blocking signals stimulated via CD28. A number of studies have assessed the association between CTLA-4 +6230G/A polymorphism and cancer risk. However, the results remain controversial.

quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) C609T gene polymorphism has been reported to influence the risk for esophageal cancer (EC) in many studies; however, the results remain controversial and ambiguous. We therefore carried out a meta-analysis of published case-control studies to investigate the association between NQO1 C609T polymorphism and EC susceptibility. Electronic searches were conducted on links between this variant and EC in several databases.
