B cell-activating factor (BAFF)is a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family and plays roles in B cell survival and maturation. In this study, the full-length cDNA of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) BAFF (tBAFF) was amplified from the spleen by reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR). The open reading frame of this cDNA encodes a protein of 261 amino acids containing a predicted transmembrane domain and a furin protease cleavage site, similar to mammalian, avian, and reptile BAFF.

Recent evidence highlights long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) as crucial regulators of cancer biology that contribute to tumorigenesis. LncRNA TUG1 was initially detected in a genomic screen for genes upregulated in response to taurine treatment in developing mouse retinal cells. Our previous study showed that TUG1 could affect cell proliferation through epigenetically regulating HOXB7 in human non-small cell lung cancer.

Recently, long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been shown to have important regulatory roles in human cancer biology. The aim of this study was to evaluate the expression and biological role of lncRNA CASC2 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). By bioinformatics analysis, we found that CASC2 was significantly decreased in NSCLC.

DNA polymerase β (Pol β) is a key enzyme in DNA base excision repair (BER), a pathway that maintains genome integrity and stability. Pol β mutations have been detected in various types of cancers, suggesting a possible linkage between Pol β mutations and cancer. However, it is not clear whether and how Pol β mutations cause cancer onset and progression.

High-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) is a possible cause of esophageal cancer. However, the molecular pathogenesis of HPV-infected esophageal cancer remains unclear. The expression levels of some microRNAs including miR-125b have been negatively correlated with HPV infection, and miR-125b downregulation is associated with tumorigenesis.

Label-free detection of telomerase activity was done by using telomeric hemin/G-quadruplex triggered polyaniline deposition, not only on themselves but also on the DNA tetrahedron-structure (DTS). DTS size has a great impact on telomerase accessibility, reactivity and detection sensitivity. The method has been used to evaluate bladder cancer development.

Recently, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been shown to play important roles in human cancer biology. The purpose of this study was to assess the biological role of lncRNA H19 in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Quantitative reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR) was used to detect the expression of H19 in tumor tissues and corresponding non-tumor NSCLC tissues from 70 patients.

Increasing evidence indicates that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are involved in diverse biological process. Mouse maternal expressed gene 3 (Meg3) is an imprinted gene and essential for development. Here, we explored the relationship between Meg3 and the function of mouse beta cells in vitro and in vivo.

The identification of subtypes of known tumor markers is of great importance for clinical diagnosis but still a great challenge in novel detection methodologies with simple operation and acceptable sensitivity. This work for the first time reported a quantum dots (QDs) based potential-resolved electrochemiluminescent (ECL) immunosensor to realize simultaneous detection of dual targets. Because of different surface microstructures, dimercaptosuccinic acid stabilized CdTe (DMSA-CdTe) QDs and TiO2 nanoparticles-glutathione stabilized CdTe (TiO2-GSH-CdTe) QDs composites showed a large difference of ECL peak potential (∼360 mV), which provided an access for potential-resolution detection.

Background: Accumulated studies have evaluated the association of pre-miR-218 rs11134527 polymorphism with cancer risk in Chinese population. However, the results remain controversial.
Methods: To derive a more precise and more comprehensive estimation of the relationship, six studies focused on Chinese population were included for the pooled analysis for pre-miR-218 rs11134527 polymorphism using odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs).

Purpose: Some studies have investigated the association of IL-2 -330T/G (rs2069762) polymorphism with cancer risk, but the previous results were conflicting and had relatively low statistical power. Thus, we performed a meta-analysis to derive a more precise estimation of the association between IL-2 -330T/G polymorphism and cancer risk.
Methods: A literature search was performed systematically using electronic databases.

To date, case-control studies on the association between a single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), rs2268388, in the acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase beta (ACACB) gene and diabetic nephropathy have provided controversial results. To clarify the effect of rs2268388 on the risk of diabetic nephropathy, a meta-analysis of all case-control studies was performed. The fixed effects and random effects models showed that the C allele was associated with a decreased susceptibility risk of diabetic nephropathy compared with the T allele among Caucasian patients with diabetes.

Background: Percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) has been gradually used for osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) treatment, but severe osteoporotic vertebral body compression fractures (sOVCFs) due to the difficulty in performing a puncture and the characteristics of the fractured vertebrae, it has been considered as a contraindication to PVP. The aim of the following study was to evaluate the feasibility of a unilateral, three-dimensional (3D), accurate puncture in percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) for a single, severely osteoporotic vertebral body compression fracture (ssOVCFs).
Materials And Methods: 57 patients received PVP in the current study.

However, little is known about the characteristics of the length distribution of the δ2-chain complementarity determining region 3 (δ2 CDR3) of the γδ T-cell receptor (TCR) in patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) on a large scale. In addition, M.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains an important public health problem in the world. Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) is an RNA molecular that is longer than 200 nucleotides and cannot be translated into a protein. Recent studies have shown that lncRNAs play important roles in carcinogenesis and cancer metastasis.
