Background: Previous studies have reported that STAT1 (Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 1) is associated with multiple tumor progression. This study aimed to investigate the role and related mechanisms of STAT1 in bladder cancer.
Methods: STAT1 expression in bladder cancer tissues and human bladder cancer cell lines was assessed by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR).

Cancer-induced bone pain (CIBP) represents the pain induced by bone metastases from malignancies. The role of extracellular vesicles (Evs) has been underscored in bone metastasis. However, the function of Evs, especially these derived from M2 macrophages (M2φ-Evs) in CIBP is unclear.

Acute lung injury (ALI), which is an excessive uncontrolled inflammatory response in the lung, is mediated by several pro-inflammatory mediators. Recent evidence has implicated microRNAs (miRNAs) in regulation of inflammation in different diseases. However, the roles and underlying molecular mechanism of miRNAs in ALI have not been adequately elucidated.

Background: Lung epithelial cell dysfunction induced by hyperoxia-associated oxidative stress is a prominent feature involved in the development of acute lung injury (ALI). How the underlying molecular mechanisms contributed to this process are poorly defined. In the present study, we sought to identify the role of miR-124 in hyperoxia-induced cell apoptosis and excessive inflammatory response in pulmonary epithelial cell.

Objective: To investigate the expression level of IARS2 gene in colon cancer tissues and various cell strains of the cancer; to explore cytologically the effect of IARS2 gene knockdown on proliferation, apoptosis and cell cycle of RKO cells in the cancer.
Methods: Real-time, fluorescence-based quantitative PCR (qPCR) was used to detect the expression of IARS2 gene in human colon cancer and surrounding tissues and in various cell strains of the cancer; the RNA interference target of IARS2 gene was designed and the target was detected by Western blot; the IARS2-siRNA lentiviral vector was established and used to infect the RKO cells of colon cancer; qPCR was employed to determine the effect of gene knockdown; changes of the RKO cells in growth, apoptosis, cell cycle and clone formation were observed after IARS2 gene knockdown.
Results: The expression of IARS2 gene was higher in human colon cancer tissues than in surrounding tissues; there was expression of IARS2 gene in colon cancer cells, and the expression level of IARS2 gene mRNA was higher in the RKO cells than in the SW480, HCT116, DLD1, HT-29 and SW620 cells.

Background: Bladder cancer (BC) is the fifth most common malignancy worldwide. The expression levels of microRNAs (miRNAs) in urine samples of BC patients have been demonstrated to be different from healthy people. Several studies focusing on the diagnostic value of urinary miRNAs for BC detection have been reported.
