Article Synopsis
  • - A 65-year-old male with refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (R/R DLBCL) underwent CAR-T cell therapy after failing standard treatment, leading to unexpected improvements in his long-standing psoriasis.
  • - Four weeks post-CAR-T infusion, the patient experienced relief from abdominal pain and notable skin improvements, with follow-up confirming complete remission of his cancer and minimal psoriasis lesions.
  • - This case suggests that CAR-T cell therapy might offer additional benefits beyond cancer treatment, potentially paving the way for new approaches to tackle complex skin conditions like psoriasis.

Background: Tivozanib, a vascular endothelial growth factor tyrosine kinase inhibitor, has demonstrated efficacy in a phase III clinical trials for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma. However, comprehensive evaluation of its long-term safety profile in a large sample population remains elusive. The current study assessed Tivozanib-related adverse events of real-world through data mining of the US Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System FDA Adverse Event Reporting System.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate whether a causal relationship exists between serum uric acid (SUA) and diabetic microvascular complications using a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) method.

Methods: We used the MR approach, utilizing genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary statistics, to estimate the causal effect of SUA on diabetic microvascular complications in European individuals. The summary statistical data of SUA were obtained from the open database (IEU OPEN GWAS PROJECT) (p < 5 × 10), and data on diabetic microvascular complications (diabetic nephropathy, diabetic neuropathy, diabetic retinopathy) were obtained from the FinnGen consortium.

Micropeptides hidden in long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been uncovered to program various cell-biological changes associated with malignant transformation-glioblastoma (GBM) cascade. Here, we identified and characterized a novel hidden micropeptide implicated in GBM. We screened potential candidate lncRNAs by establishing a workflow involving ribosome-bound lncRNAs, publicly available MS/MS data, and prognosis-related lncRNAs.

January 2025

Department of Electronic Science, Fujian Provincial Key Laboratory of Plasma and Magnetic Resonance, Xiamen University, Xiamen, China.

Background: Large to giant congenital melanocytic nevi (LGCMN) significantly decrease patients' quality of life, but the inaccuracy of current classification system makes their clinical management challenging.

Objectives: To improve and extend the existing LGCMN 6B/7B classification systems by developing a novel LGCMN classification system based on a new phenotypic approach to clinical tool development.

Methods: Three hundred and sixty-one LGCMN cases were categorized into four subtypes based on anatomic site: bonce (25.

Electronic address:

B vitamins are essential for human life and their disorders can cause a variety of diseases. Solid-phase extraction (SPE) coupled to LC-MS/MS is a preferred technique for determining multiple B vitamins, however, their complexity in real biological matrices makes it hard to achieve satisfactory recovery and accuracy when simultaneous detection. In this study, a novel automated multi-cycle magnetic SPE (MSPE) coupled to the LC-MS/MS method was established using a mixed-mode anion exchange magnetic adsorbent for the simultaneous extraction of six functional B vitamins, including methylmalonic acid, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, 4-pyridoxic acid, folic acid, and 5-methyltetrahydrofolate.

A multi-class classification model for acute coronary syndrome (ACS) remains to be constructed based on multi-fluid metabolomics. Major confounders may exert spurious effects on the relationship between metabolism and ACS. The study aims to identify an independent biomarker panel for the multiclassification of HC, UA, and AMI by integrating serum and urinary metabolomics.

Objective: To explore the correlation of polymorphisms of AF4/FMR2 family genes and IL-10 gene with genetic susceptibility to ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and identify the high-risk factors of AS.

Methods: This case-control study was conducted among 207 AS patients and 321 healthy individuals. The tag single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) rs340630, rs241084, rs10865035, rs1698105, and rs1800896 of the AF4/FMR2 family gene and IL-10 gene of the AS patients were genotyped, and the distribution frequencies of the genotypes and alleles were analyzed to explore the relationship between different genetic models and AS and the gene-gene and gene-environment interactions.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate whether interferon-alpha 1 (IFNA1) is predictive of Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) progression and treatment response to Tumour necrosis factor inhibitors (TNFis).

Methods: Data of 50 AS patients receiving TNFi for 24 weeks were retrospectively analysed. AS patients who reached the Assessment of Spondyloarthritis International Society 40 response at the W24 were classified as responders to TNFi treatment; otherwise, they were classified as nonresponders.

Background: Diagnosed as a kind of vascular neoplasm of infancy, hemangioma (HA) occurs mainly due to the aberrant proliferation of endothelial cells. Existing evidence has manifested the close relationship of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) with the pathogenesis of HA. Although lncRNA DSCAM antisense RNA 1 (DSCAM-AS1) has been revealed to be implicated in the progression of human diseases, the underlying mechanism DSCAM-AS1 exerts in HA formation is unclear.

Background: The addition of cetuximab significantly increased the antitumor effect of programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) inhibitors in recurrent or metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). However, preliminary analyses suggested that human papillomavirus (HPV)-positive disease benefited less than HPV-negative disease. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis to assess whether the efficacy of the combination therapy varied according to HPV status in HNSCC.
