Glioblastoma (GBM) is a highly invasive and malignant primary intracranial tumor originating from glial cells, and it is associated with an extremely poor clinical prognosis. The hypoxic conditions within GBM promote various tumor cell processes such as angiogenesis, proliferation, migration, invasion, and drug resistance. A key aspect of tumor adaptation to the hypoxic environment and the promotion of malignant behaviors is the regulation of HIF-1α signaling pathways.

Electronic address:

The optically pumped magnetometer (OPM) based magnetoencephalography (MEG) system offers advantages such as flexible layout and wearability. However, the position instability or jitter of OPM sensors can result in bad channels and segments, which significantly impede subsequent preprocessing and analysis. Most common methods directly reject or interpolate to repair these bad channels and segments.

The skin serves as a crucial barrier against microbial invasion, but breaches in this barrier can lead to infectious skin diseases (ISD). ISD, including bacterial (BSD), fungal (FSD) and viral Skin Disease (VSD), pose significant global health challenges. Age-standardized and age specific incidence, prevalence, and lived with disability (YLDs) data for ISD were sourced from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021 (GBD 2021) and demographic data from the United Nations.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory polygenic disease with significant impacts on skin and joints, leading to substantial treatment challenges and healthcare costs. The quest for novel therapeutic avenues has recently highlighted extracellular vesicles (EVs) due to their potential as biomarkers and therapeutic agents in autoimmune diseases, including psoriasis. EVs are nano-sized, lipid membrane-bound particles secreted by cells that have emerged as promising tools for targeted drug delivery, owing to their unique structure.

Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • OPM-MEG is a new non-invasive imaging technique that improves sensor flexibility but requires better noise suppression due to environmental factors.
  • Existing methods like homogeneous field correction (HFC) and spatiotemporal extended HFC (teHFC) have limitations in dealing with complex noise.
  • The proposed oblique projection method (opHFC) enhances noise suppression by accommodating non-orthogonal signal and noise subspaces, leading to improved signal quality in OPM-MEG applications.

December 2024

Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, the Second Clinical College of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Guangzhou 510120, Guangdong, China.

Background: There are some common pathophysiological risk factors between myocardial infarction and osteoporosis, and the exact relationship between the two is not yet clear. Our study aims to provide evidence on the relationship between myocardial infarction and osteoporosis through the analysis of data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) and Mendelian Randomization (MR) analysis from 2015 to 2018.

Methods: A two-sample MR study using summary statistics from genome-wide association studies (GWAS) was conducted to determine the causal relationship between myocardial infarction and osteoporosis.

Traditional Chinese medicine has unique advantages in preventing and treating COVID-19, and Fuzheng Jiedu decoction (FZJDD) was reported to be effective against COVID-19 in clinical trials. To investigate the potential mechanisms and material basis of FZJDD against SARS-CoV-2, we performed SARS-CoV-2 target protein inhibition analyses and a metabolite full spectrum analysis of FZJDD. Interestingly, FZJDD was found to block the binding of SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein with the receptor ACE2 and inhibit the activity of SARS-CoV-2 3CLpro.

Article Synopsis
  • A new test called Time-resolved fluorescence immunochromatographic test strips (TRFIS) has been created for the fast detection of a specific type of exosome related to liver cancer, targeting a protein called glypican-3 (GPC3).
  • The test allows for direct detection of these exosomes in plasma without needing complex isolation methods, completing the entire process in just 15 minutes.
  • Clinical testing showed that TRFIS can effectively differentiate HCC patients from healthy individuals with high sensitivity and specificity, presenting a promising tool for early liver cancer screening.
