Perivascular epithelioid cell tumors (PEComas) are mesenchymal tumors that exhibit characteristic epithelioid or spindle cell morphology and typically grow around blood vessels. These tumors are characterized by the expression of melanocytic and smooth muscle markers, such as HMB-45, Melan-A, and smooth muscle actin, indicating a dual differentiation phenotype. PEComas are extremely rare diseases, and patients typically have a very poor prognosis.

The predictive significance of chromobox family members in prostate cancer in humans.

Cell Oncol (Dordr)

August 2024

Department of Urology, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, 510000, China.

Purpose: The Chromobox (CBX) family proteins are crucial elements of the epigenetic regulatory machinery and play a significant role in the development and advancement of cancer. Nevertheless, there is limited understanding regarding the role of CBXs in development or progression of prostate cancer (PCa). Our objective is to develop a unique prognostic model associated with CBXs to improve the accuracy of predicting outcomes of patients with PCa.

Silencing suppressor of cytokine signaling 3 induces apoptosis and activates the p-STAT3/NF-κB pathway in hypoxic cultivated H9c2 cells.

J Physiol Biochem

February 2024

Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Xinqiao Hospital, Second Affiliated Hospital of Army Military Medical University, No.183 Xinqiao Street, Shapingba District, Chongqing, 400037, China.

Suppressor of cytokine signaling 3 (SOCS3) plays a significant role in the process of myocardial adaptation to chronic hypoxia. SOCS3 finely regulates cell signaling cross-talk that occurs between NF-κB and STAT3 during the compensatory protective response. However, the role and mechanism of SOCS3 in hypoxic cardiomyocytes are not fully understood.

The early effects of sleeve gastrectomy on postprandial chylomicron triglycerides during the progression of type 2 diabetes.

Clin Chim Acta

September 2023

Shanghai Key Laboratory of Metabolic Remodeling and Health, Institute of Metabolism and Integrative Biology, Fudan University, Shanghai 200433, China; Liver Cancer Institute, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, Shanghai 200032, China. Electronic address:

Background: It remains unclear whether early sleeve gastrectomy (SG) improves postprandial very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) as well as chylomicron triglycerides (TGs) in a weight-independent manner in patients with or without type 2 diabetes (DM). Herein we investigated the early effects of SG on postprandial VLDL and chylomicron kinetics.

Methods: A liquid meal test was performed before and after 1 week of SG.

Background: Radiation therapy combined with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has recently turned into an appealing and promising approach to enhance the anti-tumor immunity and efficacy of immunological drugs in many tumors. Abscopal effect induced by radiation is a phenomenon that often leads to an efficient immunity response. In this study, we investigated whether the combination of the immunogenic effects derived from radiotherapy sequential ICIs-based therapy could increase the incidence of abscopal effects, and improve the survival rates.

lncRNA FAM230B is highly expressed in colorectal cancer and suppresses the maturation of miR-1182 to increase cell proliferation.

Open Med (Wars)

October 2022

Department of Oncology, The Second Affiliated Hospital of Army Military Medical University, 20-8, Building C, Buke Mansion, Fengtian Road, Shapingba, Chongqing City, 400050, P.R. China.

Long non-coding RNA FAM230B and microRNA (miR-1182) have been characterized as critical players in cancer biology, while their roles in colorectal cancer (CRC) are unclear. We predicted that they could interact with each other and therefore explored the interaction between them in CRC. CRC and paired non-tumor tissue samples were collected from 60 CRC patients, and the expression of FAM230B and miR-1182 (premature and mature) in these samples was analyzed with RT-qPCR.

SEVs (small extracellular vesicles) contents signatures appear to mirror pathological changes of diseases, and mapping sEVs contents profile is a promising approach for non-invasive diagnosis of the disease. Herein, we propose a universal system for accurately and damage-freely mapping of sEVs content profile using dual-recognition triggered CHA (catalytic hairpin assembly) and DNAzyme based signal amplification strategy. After immunoassay based capture of CD63 positive sEVs by anti-CD63 lgG coated on the surface of polystyrene plates, probes are incubated with fixed sEVs to penetrate sEVs membrane and act to sense sEVs contents.

Diabetes Metab Res Rev

November 2022

Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, Shanghai, China.

Aims: The study aimed to develop a novel noninvasive model to detect advanced fibrosis based on routinely available clinical and laboratory tests.

Materials And Methods: A total of 309 patients who underwent liver biopsy were randomly divided into the estimation group (n = 201) and validation group (n = 108). The model was developed using multiple regression analysis in the estimation group and further verified in the validation group.

Objective: To establish and verify the validity of a three-dimensional finite element model of the thoracolumbal segments T12-L2; the stress distribution of the model was analyzed, providing a theoretical basis for finite element analysis of thoracolumbal segment fracture as well as a surgical model.

Methods: A healthy female volunteer with no history of lumbar spine injury was selected to obtain CT scan data of the T12-L2 vertebral bodies. Mimics 3D reconstruction software was used to generate the T12-L2 3D model, and surface mesh and body mesh were generated by smoothing treatment and mesh division.

Parental uveitis causes elevated hair loss in offspring of C57BL/6J mice.

Exp Eye Res

June 2022

Laboratory Animal Center, Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing, PR China; Chongqing Engineering Research Center for Rodent Laboratory Animals, Chongqing, PR China. Electronic address:

Our previous study demonstrated that parental uveitis in a susceptible population can cause hair loss and increase the susceptibility to experimental autoimmune uveitis (EAU) in offspring. However, it is unclear whether parental uveitis affects the development of offspring in an EAU-moderate-susceptible population. Herein, moderate-susceptible C57BL/6J mice were immunized with inter-photoreceptor retinoid binding protein (IRBP) 651-670 to develop EAU and were kept together for mating.

White matter lesion (WML) is caused by chronic cerebral hypoperfusion, which are usually associated with cognitive impairment. Evidence from recent studies has shown that ginkgolide B has a neuroprotective effect that could be beneficial for the treatment of ischemia; however, it is not clear whether ginkgolide B has a protective effect on WML. Our data show that ginkgolide B can promote the differentiation of oligodendrocyte precursor cell (OPC) into oligodendrocytes and promote oligodendrocyte survival following a WML.
