Background: Recent studies have confirmed the critical role of neonatal microglia in wound healing and axonal regeneration following spinal cord injury (SCI). However, the limited migration of microglia to the center of adult lesion may significantly impede their potential benefits.
Methods: We established a model of microglial centripetal migration and prolonged retention in C57BL/6J and transgenic mice by injecting exogenous C-X3-C motif chemokine ligand 1 (CX3CL1) and macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF) directly into the lesion site post-SCI.

Background: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) has emerged as a globally prevalent liver disease, closely linked to the rising incidence of obesity, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. Dapagliflozin (DaPa), a sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitor, is primarily prescribed for diabetes management. It has shown potential efficacy in managing MASLD in clinical settings.

Background: Dengue, the fastest-spreading vector-borne disease (VBD), significantly burdens global health systems. This study analyzed the trends in the global burden of dengue from 1990 to 2021, utilizing data from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2021 (GBD 2021).
Methodology/principal Findings: We retrieved data from GBD 2021 regarding dengue, including the number of incidences and age-standardized incidence rate (ASIR), the number of deaths and age-standardized death rate (ASDR), disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) and age-standardized DALYs.

The objective of this work is to develop a framework based on large language models (LLMs) to predict postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) outcomes in elderly patients. Our study demonstrates that LLMs have the potential to address the issues of poor generalization and weak interpretability commonly encountered in disease prediction using traditional machine learning (ML) models. AKI is a severe postoperative complication, especially in elderly patients with declining renal function.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are closely associated with human tumorigenesis; however, whether hsa_circ_0004846 serves a role in the progression of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) remains unclear. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the effect of hsa_circ_0004846 on PTC. The results demonstrated that circ_0004846 was abnormally upregulated in PTC tissues and thyroid cancer cell lines (BCPAP, TPC-1 and IHH-4).

Background: The screening and monitoring of gastric cancer is still a clinical challenge. Both N-methyladenosine (mA) and lncRNAs have been evidenced as critical regulators of gastric cancer, but their interaction and potential in modulating tumor progression remain unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the function of lncRNA LINC00968 in gastric cancer biological processes, and we discovered the role of KIAA1429, a typical mA eraser, in mediating LINC00968 function.

Vaginal atrophy is a prevalent symptom in menopausal women, affecting over 50% of older women and patients with loss of ovarian function. The role of factors other than estrogen, such as the vaginal microbiota (VM), in the development of vaginal atrophy has not been fully explored. Therefore, we selected 8-week-old C57 mice with bilateral ovariectomy for experimentation.

Background And Aims: This individual patient data pooled analysis aimed to evaluate the effectiveness, safety, and patterns of use of camrelizumab in a large cohort of advanced esophageal cancer (AEC) patients.
Approach And Results: Adult patients (≥ 18 years) who had received camrelizumab as part of AEC treatment were pooled from three independent, prospective observational cohort studies (NCT04616040, ChiCTR1900027275, and ChiCTR2000039499). The main outcomes were patterns of camrelizumab use, progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and safety in the overall population and specific subgroups of underrepresented patients.

The kidney is a vital organ responsible for removing toxins, producing urine, and regulating homeostasis. Developmental defects in the kidney lead to various congenital abnormalities that impair renal function. Gdf11, a member of the transforming growth factor β family, is associated with numerous renal abnormalities.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a major cause of mortality in hospitalized patients, yet effective therapeutic interventions remain underdeveloped. To address this critical need, we have employed tetrahedral framework nucleic acid (tFNA) as a carrier to self-assemble a complex incorporating G-quadruplex and hemin (G4/Hemin). This novel formulation exhibits uniform particle size, targeted delivery, and significant therapeutic efficacy for AKI.

Background And Aims: Metals serve as co-factors for a host of metalloenzymes involved in mitochondrial metabolic reprogramming. Modifications in metal homeostasis are linked to epigenetic mechanisms. However, the epigenetic mechanisms through which metal affects cardiac fibrosis (CF) remain poorly understood.

Mitochondrial dysfunction is present in the ovaries of patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Melatonin (MT) has shown promise in treating PCOS by improving mitochondrial dysfunction, though the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we first assessed the levels of proteins associated with mitochondrial autophagy and dynamics in ovary granulosa cells (GCs) of PCOS patients and in the ovaries of DHEA-induced PCOS mice.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) compromises the intestinal barrier and disrupts gut microbiota, impacting liver function via the gut-liver axis, which in turn influences the intestinal microbiota through lipid metabolites exacerbating IBD. This study introduced a probiotic-based treatment using encapsulated in tungsten ion-loaded mesoporous polydopamine (LA@WMPDA) to ameliorate colitis and balance enterohepatic homeostasis. After oral administration, the encapsulation could protect , scavenge reactive oxygen/nitrogen species, and the released tungsten ions would inhibit abnormal growth during colitis, consequently restoring the intestinal barrier and regulating the gut microbiota.

Theragnostics is the integration of treatment and diagnosis, involving a drug or technology that combines diagnostic imaging with targeted therapy. This approach utilizes imaging to identify specific biological targets, which are then used to deliver therapeutic effects for the benefit of patients. The effectiveness and potential of theragnostics in improving patient outcomes are supported by significant clinical trials and technological innovations.

Background: The primary challenges in CD19-specific chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CD19 CAR T) therapy for patients with refractory/relapsed B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (r/r B-ALL) are non-response and relapse; it is urgent to reveal these mechanisms. Neutrophils play a critical role in the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME), which can hinder CAR T efficacy. Our previous research identified a subset of immunosuppressive neutrophils with a special phenotype (CD14CD10CD45HLA-DRSSC, termed CD10 neuts), which suppress T cell function.

Background: There is limited data regarding the sources of human Pasteurella multocida infection, characteristics of infected populations, and the antibiotic resistance patterns of human strains.
Methods: Through the multi-database platforms, we conducted a comprehensive review and analysis of 482 reported cases of Pasteurella multocida from the world since from 1964 to 2023, including the sources of infection, sex and age distribution of infected individuals, and the clinical manifestations of infection in different age groups. Additionally, we evaluated the antibiotic susceptibility of different strains of the bacterium.
