Objectives: The prognosis for adults with relapsed/refractory (R/R) B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (BCP-ALL) is poor. Blinatumomab is a CD3/CD19-directed BiTE® (bispecific T-cell engager) molecule approved globally for the treatment of BCP-ALL in adults and children. This multicenter open-label single-arm China registrational study evaluated the safety, efficacy, and pharmacokinetics of blinatumomab in Chinese adults with Philadelphia chromosome-negative (Ph-) R/R BCP-ALL (NCT03476239).

Several studies have shown that anti-diabetic medications may modify the risk of cancer. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the effect of alpha-glucosidase inhibitors (AGIs) on the risk of cancer in patients with diabetes mellitus. We conducted a systematic search of Medline, EMBASE, and Web of Science databases, up to September 30, 2016.

Carotid atherosclerosis (CA) and carotid plaque (CP) are highly correlated with cardiovascular disease. We aimed to determine the prevalence of CA and CP and their relationship with 10-year risks of stroke and coronary heart disease (CHD) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).We studied 1584 T2DM patients aged 20 years and older.

Background: This phase 3 trial is the first to evaluate the efficacy and safety of treatment with the systemic TNF-α inhibitor, adalimumab, for Chinese patients with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis.
Methods: In the 12-week, double-blind, placebo-controlled Period A, patients were randomized 4 : 1 to receive adalimumab 40 mg every-other-week (following a single 80 mg dose), or placebo every-other-week. In the subsequent 12-week, open-label, Period B, all patients received adalimumab 40 mg every-other-week starting at week 13, following a single, blinded dose at week 12 of adalimumab 80 mg or matching placebo (for patients receiving placebo or adalimumab in Period A respectively).

Objective: Metastasis-associated protein 2 is considered as an intrinsic subunit of the nucleosome remodelling and histone deacetylase complex, which contributes to the epigenetic silencing genes. More and more evidence suggests that metastasis-associated protein 2 is required to maintain the malignant phenotype, but the role of metastasis-associated protein 2 function in mediating tumour metastasis in non-small-cell lung cancer has not been explored.
Methods: Bioinformatics was used to detect the GEO 3141 database, the online tool of Kmplot was used to confirm the high expression of metastasis-associated protein 2 in influencing 5-year overall survival.

Aims: To compare the efficacy and safety of 3% diquafosol ophthalmic solution with those of 0.1% sodium hyaluronate ophthalmic solution in patients with dry eye in China and Singapore.
Methods: A total of 497 patients with dry eye (Schirmer's test, 5 mm; fluorescein and RB score, 3 points) from China and Singapore were randomised to receive either diquafosol ophthalmic solution (diquafosol) or sodium hyaluronate ophthalmic solution (HA) at 1:1 ratio.
Lymph node metastases at the time of diagnosis have a major impact on both therapeutic strategy and tumor recurrence for patients with papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC). Our objective was to evaluate the usefulness of PTMC characteristics on ultrasonography for predicting central compartment lymph node metastases (CCLNM) of PTMC. One hundred twenty seven patients who underwent surgery for PTMC were enrolled in this study.

Since the first laparoscopic splenectomy (LS) was reported in 1991, LS has become the gold standard for the removal of normal to moderately enlarged spleens in benign conditions. Compared with open splenectomy, fewer postsurgical complications and better postoperative recovery have been observed, but LS is contraindicated for hypersplenism secondary to liver cirrhosis in many institutions owing to technical difficulties associated with splenomegaly, well-developed collateral circulation, and increased risk of bleeding. With the improvements of laparoscopic technique, the concept is changing.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV)-associated nephropathy is not a rare manifestation of HBV infection; this could result in diagnostic confusion and the possible misidentification of a diabetic patient with albuminuria. We present the first published case of a HBV-associated nephropathy occurring in a patient with diabetes. The patient was a 24-year-old man who was admitted to hospital with 4 days of generalized swelling and oliguria.

Arterial calcification is a complex and active regulated process, which results from a process of osteoblastic differentiation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). Leptin, the product of the ob gene, mainly regulates food intake and energy expenditure and recently has been considered to be correlated with the arterial calcification. However, the mechanisms of the effects of leptin on osteoblastic differentiation of VSMCs are unknown.

Background: Laparoscopic greater curvature plication (LGCP) is an emerging restrictive bariatric procedure that successfully reduces the gastric volume by plication of the gastric greater curvature. The aim of this prospective nonrandomized study was to compare short-term outcomes and associated complications between LGCP and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG).
Methods: From January 2011 to November 2011, a total of 39 patients were allocated to undergo either LGCP (n = 19) or LSG (n = 20).
