Acute liver failure is a rare but catastrophic syndrome. Liver function tests usually reveal cholestatic or hepatocellular pattern, but in this case, we report a previously undescribed manifestation of this condition as isolated hyperbilirubinemia. Our patient was a 50 years old male who was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML(M4)).

Background: show high mortality among pregnant women and newborns. This study aimed to detect in pregnant women with a history of abortion and assess the serotypes, antibiotic susceptibility patterns, and its resistance genes.

Methods: Overall, 400 vaginal swabs were taken from pregnant women with a history of abortion in the past few years in a tertiary care hospital in Tehran, Iran, during 2015-2018.

Objective: The intravaginal ejaculatory latency time (IELT) may increase less in on-demand compared to daily intake, but may fulfill a suitable treatment for specific patients. We decided to compare the efficacy and safety of on-demand and daily use of sertraline in order to find the most effective and least complicated method in treatment of premature ejaculation (PE).

Methods: This study was parallel or concurrent control randomized clinical trial.

Purpose: To compare the efficacy and safety of available selective serotonin reuptake inhibi-tors (SSRIs) in order to find the most effective drug with the least number of side effects in treatment of premature ejaculation (PE).

Materials And Methods: This study was a randomized clinical trial. Four hundred and eighty pati-ents with PE in the 4 groups referred to Imam Reza hospital Tehran, Iran from July 2018 to Fe-bruary 2019 were enrolled in the study.

Article Synopsis
  • A study was conducted to assess the frequency of Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL) genes in strains from nosocomial infections to understand their role in antibiotic resistance.
  • Out of 100 bacterial strains analyzed, 59% were identified as ESBL positive, but the study did not find two specific ESBL genes; however, another gene was present in 42% of the strains.
  • The findings indicate a high prevalence of antibiotic-resistant strains in Iran, emphasizing the urgent need for infection control measures in healthcare settings to combat the spread of these resistant infections.

Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) is one of the main classes of acid-producing organisms in the food industry, and they play a vital part in many food and feed fermentations. We isolated and performed molecular identification of LAB from raw camel's milk and assessed their protective effects against pathogenicity induced by and Fourteen samples of camel's milk were obtained from several districts under aseptic conditions. Bacteria isolation was performed by plating the samples on selective media.

Early detection of antibiotic-resistant enterococci is an important part of patient treatment. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to evaluate the resistance patterns and simultaneously identify and characterise the resistance genes in Enterococcus spp. using a triplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method.

Background: Resistant strains of to imipenem was medical treatment problem, especially in burnt units of hospitals.

Objectives: This study was conducted to evaluate the antimicrobial effect of FeO nanoparticles alone and functionalized with imipenem on starins producing metallo β-lactamases (MBL).

Materials And Methods: A disk diffusion method was used to isolate a clinical producing Metallo β-lactamases with imipenem resistance.

Background: Salmonella typhi, Bacillus anthracis, and Yersinia pestis are some serious human pathogens, which their early diagnosis is of great importance. Salmonella typhi, Bacillus anthracis, and Yersinia pestis cause typhoid fever, anthrax, and plague respectively. These bacteria can be used to make biologic weapons.

Objective: In radiation treatment, the irradiation which is effective enough to control the tumors far exceeds normal-tissues tolerance. Thus to avoid such unfavourable outcomes, some methods sensitizing the tumor cells to radiation are used. Iododeoxyuridine (IUdR) is a halogenated thymidine analogue that known to be effective as a radiosensitizer in human cancer therapy.
