Heliyon

July 2024

School of Electrical and Power Engineering, Hohai University, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China.

Uncertainty of distributed photovoltaic(PV) power brings great challenges to the safe and stable operation of power system, in which the intermittency problem is more challenging than the fluctuation. This paper focuses on the intermittency problem of distributed PV power, firstly, an intermittency evaluation method based on generalized extreme value(GEV) theory is proposed to solve the problem of the lack of "small-sample big-gap" events. Secondly, focusing on high risk events such as high-frequency and warning mutation events, probabilistic evaluation indexes were established, including T-hour-period mutation intensity and T-hour-period mutation frequency.

January 2023

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of California, Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz, California 95064, USA.

Fractional-order systems generalize classical differential systems and have empirically shown to achieve fine-grain modeling of the temporal dynamics and frequency responses of certain real-world phenomena. Although the study of integer-order memory element (mem-element) emulators has persisted for several years, the study of fractional-order mem-elements has received little attention. To promote the study of the characteristics and applications of mem-element systems in fractional calculus and memory systems, a novel universal fractional-order mem-elements interface for constructing three types of fractional-order mem-element emulators is proposed in this paper.

College of Light Industry and Food Engineering, Guangxi University, Nanning 530004, PR China; Guangxi Key Laboratory of Clean Pulp & Papermaking and Pollution Control, Nanning 530004, PR China. Electronic address:

The complex interaction of lignin, cellulose, and hemicellulose in the hydrothermal degradation progress of lignocellulose, has led to uncertainty in the hydrothermal synthesis of lignocellulose-based CQDs (LC-CQDs). This makes it difficult to identify the specific formation mechanism of LC-CQDs. To simplify the reaction system and comprehensively describe the formation of LC-CQDs, both lignin and hemicellulose, the main hydrothermal degradation products of lignocellulose, were used as precursor to simulate and explore the synthesis of LC-CQDs at different time intervals (2-12 h).

In this paper, we study the finite-time stability of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) with noise perturbation. To eliminate the chaos in a PMSM and allow it to reach a steady state more quickly within a finite time, we propose a novel adaptive controller based on finite-time control theory. Finite-time stability implies optimal convergence time and better robustness.

Microalgae-based nutrients recovery from liquid anaerobic digestate of swine manure has been a hotspot in recent decades. Nevertheless, in consideration of the high NH-N content and poor light penetrability exhibited by the original liquid digestate, uneconomical pretreatment on liquid digestate including centrifugation and dilution are indispensable before microalgae cells inoculation. Herein, aiming at eliminating the energy-intensive and freshwater-consuming pretreatment on liquid digestate and enhancing microalgae growth, the dialysis bag which permits nutrients transferring across its wall surface whereas retains almost all matters characterized by impeding light transmission within the raw liquid digestate was integrated into a column photobioreactor (DB-PBR).

Recent Advances in Polymer-Containing Multifunctional Phase-Change Materials.

Chempluschem

September 2021

School of Electrical and Power Engineering, China University of Mining and Technology, Xuzhou, Jiangsu, 221116, P. R. China.

Phase-change materials (PCMs) play a key role in thermal energy storage owing to their high-energy storage density and small temperature fluctuation during the phase-transition stage. Polymers, either as a supporting material to prevent liquid leakage during the phase-change process or used with specific target, have been widely recognized in the fabrication of PCM composites. In the meantime, due to the continued demand for variety of PCMs, a single thermal energy storage function seems to be insufficient to meet these needs.

Highly Efficient Thermal Energy Storage Using a Hybrid Hypercrosslinked Polymer*.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

June 2021

School of Electrical and Power Engineering, China University of Mining and Technology, Xuzhou, Jiangsu, 221116, China.

In this work, an organic/inorganic hybrid polymer containing siloxyl functional groups was synthesized and applied to encapsulate phase change materials (PCMs). Owing to the mild conditions of the hypercrosslinking reaction, which only requires the addition of a catalytic amount of aqueous alkaline solution, both organic and inorganic PCMs are tolerated. It is noteworthy that the initial homogeneous state of the reaction mixture allowed the ultimate encapsulation rate of the PCMs and the uniform blending of the third nano-additives with the aim of thermal conductivity enhancement.
