Herein, conductive polyaniline (PANI) was chemically polymerized on the surface of a bismuth-based metal-organic framework (Bi-MOF) to form conductive PANI@Bi-MOF composites. FT-IR and PXRD measurements verified the successful production of PANI@Bi-MOF, whereas SEM, TEM, and EDAX mapping demonstrated that PANI was uniformly coated on the surface of Bi-MOF. The resulting PANI@Bi-MOF composites were characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), then used to develop a sensitive electrochemical sensor for the detection of lead ions based on differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV).

Bicelles, an artificial disk-shaped lipid bilayer, are commonly used for the structural and functional characterization of membrane-bound proteins in an environment similar to that in intracellular membranes. Because the dynamics of the lipids that constitute bicelles exert a significant impact on the structure and function of the inserted proteins, we investigated the mobility of lipid molecules in bicelles composed of DMPC (14:0 PC) and DHPC (06:0 PC) using solution NMR and MD calculations. C R relaxation experiments for the acyl groups demonstrated that increasing bicelle sizes limit the rotational diffusion of acyl chain H-C bonds in DMPC.

The development of eco-friendly wood adhesives have gained more interest among adhesives industries due to the concerns about using carcinogenic formaldehyde and petroleum-based phenol in commercially available adhesives. Therefore, many studies have been done by using lignin to partially replace phenol and completely substitute formaldehyde with non-toxic glyoxal in a wood adhesive formulation. This study focused on using different percentages of lignin substitution (10 %, 30 % and 50 wt%) of alkaline and organosolv coconut husk lignin into soda lignin-phenol-glyoxal (SLPG), Kraft lignin-phenol-glyoxal (KLPG) and organosolv lignin-phenol-glyoxal (OLPG) adhesives.

Ru(II)-Catalyzed "On Water" direct aryl C(sp)-H amidation of 2-arylbenzo[d]-thiazole/oxazole with acyl azide is reported under silver-free condition. Deuterium scrambling experiments suggested reversible C-H activation catalyzed by active cationic ruthenium species. The organic solvents such as DCE, DMF, DMSO, MeCN, dioxane, and PhMe were not conducive for the C-H amidation except for PhCl in which case, however, inferior yield (31 %) was obtained.

Rationalizing synthetic pathways is crucial for material design and property optimization, especially for polymorphic and metastable phases. Over-stoichiometric rocksalt (ORX) compounds, characterized by their face-sharing configurations, are a promising group of materials with unique properties; however, their development is significantly hindered by challenges in synthesizability. Here, taking the recently identified Li superionic conductor, over-stoichiometric rocksalt Li-In-Sn-O (o-LISO) material as a prototypical ORX compound, the mechanisms of phase formation are systematically investigated.

A detailed theoretical study delving into the molecular mechanisms of the Ullmann-type -arylation reactions catalyzed by manganese and zinc metal ions has been investigated with the aid of the density functional theory (DFT) method. In contrast to the redox-active mechanisms proposed for classical Ullmann-type condensation reaction, a redox-neutral mechanism involving σ-bond metathesis emerged as the most appealing pathway for the investigated high-valent Mn(II) and Zn(II)-catalyzed -arylation reactions. The mechanism remains invariant with respect to the nature of the central metal, ligand, base, This unusuality in the mechanism has been dissected by considering three cases: ligand-free and ligand-assisted Mn(II)-catalyzed -arylation reaction and ligand-assisted Zn(II)-catalyzed -arylation reactions.

The electrocatalytic reaction pathway is highly dependent on the intrinsic structure of the catalyst. CO/CO electroreduction has recently emerged as a potential approach for obtaining C products, but it is challenging to achieve high selectivity for a single C product. Herein, we develop a Cu atomic ensemble that satisfies the appropriate site distance and coordination environment required for electrocatalytic CO-to-acetate conversion, which shows outstanding overall performance with an acetate Faradaic efficiency of 70.

ABO perovskite materials with small cations at the A site, especially with ordered cation arrangements, have attracted a lot of interest because they show unusual physical properties and deviations from general perovskite tendencies. In this work, A-site-ordered quadruple perovskites, RMnNiMnO with R = Nd, Sm, Gd, and Dy, were synthesized by a high-pressure, high-temperature method at about 6 GPa. Annealing at about 1500 K produced samples with additional (partial) B-site ordering of Ni and Mn cations, crystallizing in space group -3.

Electrochemical activation of dinitrogen (N) is notoriously challenging, typically yielding very low ammonia (NH) production rates. In this study, we present a continuous flow plasma-electrochemical reactor system for the direct conversion of nitrogen from air into ammonia. In our system, nitrogen molecules are first converted into a mixture of NO species in the plasma reactor, which are then fed into an electrochemical reactor.
