This case report describes a rare occurrence of a 25-year-old female diagnosed with both systemic sclerosis (SSc) and ankylosing spondylitis (AS), two distinct autoimmune diseases. The patient presented with a combination of symptoms, including progressive skin tightening, lumbosacral pain, and Raynaud's phenomenon, which complicated the diagnosis. Despite the challenges posed by the coexistence of SSc and AS, a multidisciplinary treatment approach involving corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, and supportive therapies led to significant clinical improvement.

Utilizing enzymes as biocatalysts, an alternative strategy has been developed for the highly enantioselective synthesis of chiral 2,3-dihydrobenzofuran (2,3-DHB) esters via the dynamic kinetic resolution of 2,3-dihydro-3-benzofuranols, which are generated from an intramolecular Aldol reaction. This protocol provides easy access to a series of 2,3-DHB ester derivatives, prodrugs, and allows for functional group transformations. Biological evaluation also indicates that some of the products exhibit potent anti-inflammatory activity.

To date, a general approach for the direct α-acyloxylation of cyclic 1,3-dicarbonyls remains challenging. Herein, we report a Pd-catalyzed α-acyloxylation of cyclic 1,3-dicarbonyl-derived hypervalent iodine compounds with highly abundant carboxylic acids. Our approach utilizes a commercially available Pd(OAc) catalyst, which exhibits mild reaction conditions, scalability, operational simplicity, and robustness against moisture and air.

Previous studies have shown an association between skin microbiota and psoriasis, but the causal relationship between skin microbiota and different psoriasis subtypes remains unexplored. Our study employed the Mendelian randomization (MR) method, using summary statistics from Genome-Wide Association Studies, to investigate the causal relationships between skin microbiota and different subtypes of psoriasis. The inverse variance weighted (IVW) method served as the primary method in our MR study.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most prevalent malignancies worldwide, with morbidity and mortality ranking third and second among all cancers, respectively. As a result of a sequence of genetic and DNA methylation alterations that gradually accumulate in the healthy colonic epithelium, colorectal adenomas and invasive adenocarcinomas eventually give rise to CRC. Global hypomethylation and promoter-specific DNA methylation are characteristics of CRC.

Hypertension-induced myocardial remodelling encompasses both structural and functional changes in cardiac muscle tissue, such as myocardial hypertrophy, fibrosis, and inflammation. These alterations not only impair the systolic and diastolic functions of the heart but also elevate the risk of cardiovascular events and heart failure. One of the primary contributors to hypertensive cardiomyopathy (HTN-CM) is the over-activation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), which subsequently induces myocardial remodeling.
