Byproducts and wastes from the food processing industry represent an important group of wastes generated annually in large quantities. It is important to note that the amount of this waste will increase with industrialization, and effective solutions must be found urgently. Many wastes that cause environmental pollution are evaluated by their low-tech conversion into products with little economic value, such as animal feed and fertilizer.

The activated carbon was produced in the first phase of this investigation by chemically activating hazelnut shell waste with HPO. Composite materials were obtained by coating the activated carbon with zinc oxide, whose BET surface area was calculated as 1278 m g. ZnO-doped ZnO/AC composite was synthesized as an adsorbent for its possible application in the elimination of organic dyestuff MB, and its removal efficiency was investigated.

Bismuth subsalicylate (BSS), probiotics, rifaximin, and vaccines have been proposed as preventive modalities for patients with travelers' diarrhea (TD), but their comparative effectiveness for prevention has rarely been studied. We aimed to perform a systematic review and network meta-analysis to test whether one of these modalities is more effective than the others in reducing the incidence of TD. We searched Pubmed, Embase, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), Web of Science, and clinical registries from inception of the databases through 18 November 2023, without language restriction, for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating the efficacy of BSS, probiotics, rifaximin, and vaccines in preventing TD.

How digital economy (DE) empowers high-quality development of tourism (HQDT) has become a common concern among scholars. Given this, this study clarifies the theoretical connotation of DE enabling HQDT,and finds that: Micro, DE promotes efficiency improvements in tourism enterprises, with its economies of scale and Matthew effect reducing average costs, its economies of scope meeting diversified demand, and its long-tail effect improving supply-demand matching mechanism. Meso, DE can transform and upgrade tourism industry structure through industrial digitization and digital industrialization, and also form a new tourist industry form and value chain through cross-border integration.

The effect of using hydrogen-rich water (HRW) in the preparation of rice milk on the nutritional and sensorial properties was evaluated. The physicochemical parameters (pH, Eh7, titratable acidity), sensory properties (color), and minerals (ICP-MS), as well as amino acid (UPLC-ESI-MS/MS), sugar (HPLC-RID), and aroma (SPME-GC/MS) profiles, of four varieties of rice and their milk and waste were examined using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Results showed that the profile of minerals, sugars, amino acids, and aroma was affected by the use of HRW.

Using national dynamic panel data from 21 emerging markets between 1999 and 2020 and bidirectional fixed effect and threshold regression methods, this paper evaluated the impact of health investment on industrial structure upgrading from two aspects of economic output and economic structure. The results showed that: (1) public health investment and private health investment have a crowding out effect on the added value of primary and secondary industries, and the crowding out effect of public health investment is greater than that of private health investment; (2) Public health investment and private health investment have a spillover effect on the added value of the tertiary industry, and the spillover effect of public health investment is greater than that of private health investment; (3) Both public and private health investment contribute to the transfer of the labor force to the tertiary industry, and tests showed the baseline regression results were robust and reliable; (4) The relationship between health investment and industrial structure upgrading was non-linear. As per capital GDP increases, the inhibition effect of public health investment on industrial structure upgrading gradually weakens whilst the promotion effect of private health investment on industrial structure upgrading gradually increases.
