Aims: Myxobacteria are non-pathogenic, saprophytic, soil-dwelling predatory bacteria known for their antimicrobial potential. Many pathogenic bacteria form biofilms to protect themselves from antimicrobial agents and the immune system. This study has investigated the predatory activities of myxobacteria against pathogenic bacteria in biofilms.

Fitness clubs may be environments where abnormal eating behaviors and excessive exercise are socially accepted, potentially putting individuals at risk for disordered eating (DE). This study examined the DE risk prevalence among gym members, comparing body appreciation, exercise motivation, frequency, BMI, and age across DE risk levels, and assessed the associated factors. A sample of 232 gym members (age: 39.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is the most common type of sleep apnea, which leads to episodes of intermittent hypoxia due to obstruction of the upper airway. A key feature of OSA is the upregulation and stabilization of hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF-1), a crucial metabolic regulator that facilitates rapid adaptation to changes in oxygen availability. Adenosine A2A receptor (A2AR), a major adenosine receptor, regulates HIF-1 under hypoxic conditions, exerting anti-inflammatory properties and affecting lipid metabolism.

Lung cancer is the dominant cause of worldwide cancer mortality. The relationship between pesticide exposure and lung cancer risk has shown mixed results epidemiologically. We hypothesized this discrepancy could arise from the varying effects of different pesticides and conducted this meta-analysis by using three pesticide classification schemes to examine the implications of diverse pesticide exposure types on lung cancer risk.

Background: The hippocampus is associated with mood disorders, and the activation of quiescent neurogenesis has been linked to anxiolytic effects. Near-infrared (NIR) light has shown potential to improve learning and memory in human and animal models. Despite the vast amount of information regarding the effect of visible light, there is a significant gap in our understanding regarding the response of neural stem cells (NSCs) to NIR stimulation, particularly in anxiety-like behavior.
