  • Phthalates (PAEs) are commonly used in plastics due to their plasticity, but their toxicity has led to the rise of alternatives like DINCH and DEHTP.
  • Both classic PAEs and their newer alternatives are found in diverse environmental settings, from air to water, raising concerns about their endocrine-disrupting effects on wildlife and human health.
  • Current research mainly focuses on traditional PAEs, highlighting the need to understand the behavior and risks associated with emerging alternatives as they become more prevalent in the environment.

Efficient synthesis of HO via photocatalytic oxygen reduction without sacrificial agents is challenging due to inadequate proton supply from water and difficulty in maintaining O-O bond during O activation. Herein, we developed a straightforward strategy involving a proton-rich hydrogel cross-linked by metal ions [M(n)], which is designed to facilitate the selective production of HO through proton relay and metal ion-assisted detachment of crucial intermediates. The hydrogel comprises CdS/graphene and alginate cross-linked by metal ions via O=C-O-M(n) bonds.

As an unconventional natural gas resource, tight sandstone gas is primarily stored in the minuscule pores between rocky sand grains. A thorough understanding of the pore structure characteristics of tight sandstone reservoirs is essential for formulating an extraction plan and enhancing the efficiency of gas field development. The pore structure and mineral composition in the sandstone can be directly observed by thin sections.

Key Laboratory of Reservoir Aquatic Environment, Chongqing Institute of Green and Intelligent Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chongqing, 400714, China; School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, Anhui University, Hefei, 230601, China. Electronic address:

Anthropogenic activities significantly impact river ecosystem nutrient fluxes and microbial metabolism. Here, we examined the seasonal and spatial variation of sediments physicochemical parameters and the associated microbiome in the Pengxi river, a representative tributary of Three Gorges Reservoir, in response to seasonal impoundment and land use change by human activities. Results revealed that seasonal impoundment and land use change enhanced total organic carbon (TOC), total nitrogen (TN) and ammonium nitrogen (NH-N) concentration in the sediment, but have different effects on sediment microbiome.

Jiangxi Key Laboratory of Forming and Joining Technology for Aerospace Components, Nanchang Hangkong University, Nanchang 330063, PR China.

In this paper, CH, CH, H, and CO adsorbed on intrinsic MoTe monolayer and transition metal atom (Ta, V)-doped MoTe monolayer have been investigated with density functional theory based on first-principles study. The adsorption energy, geometries, band structures, and density of states of four gases (CH, CH, H, and CO) adsorbed on the MoTe and doped MoTe surfaces were analyzed. The results shown that the gas adsorption performance of transition metal atom (Ta, V)-doped MoTe monolayers is more superior than that of intrinsic MoTe, and the adsorption energy and charge transfer of the adsorbed gases on the TM-MoTe monolayer are significantly increased in comparison with both sides.

Research Center for Membrane and Film Technology, Department of Chemical Science and Engineering, Kobe University, Kobe 6500034, Japan.

The ion permeability and selectivity of membranes are crucial in nanofluidic behavior, impacting industries ranging from traditional to advanced manufacturing. Herein, we demonstrate the engineering of ion-conductive membranes featuring angstrom-scale ion-transport channels by introducing ionic polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers for ion separation. The exterior quaternary ammonium-rich structure contributes to significant electrostatic charge exclusion due to enhanced local charge density; the interior protoplasmic channels of PAMAM dendrimer are assembled to provide additional degrees of free volume.

This present work consists of investigating the effects of particle size heterogeneity and flow rates on transport-reaction kinetics of CuSO and NaEDTA in porous media, via the combination of a bimolecular reaction experiment and model simulations. In the early stages of transport, a peak is observed in the concentration breakthrough curve of the reactant CuSO, related to the delayed mixing and reaction of the reactants. The numerical results show that an increase in flow rate promotes the mixing processes between the reactants, resulting in a larger peak concentration and a slighter tail of breakthrough curves, while an increase in medium heterogeneity leads to a more significant heavy tail.

Schwertmannite (Sch), a typical Fe(III)-oxyhydroxysulphate mineral, is the precipitation reservoir of toxic elements in acid mine drainage (AMD). Acid-tolerant microbes in AMD can participate in the microbe-mediated transformation of Sch, while Sch affects the physiological characteristics of these acid-tolerant microbes. Based on our discovery of algae and Sch enrichment in a contaminated acid mine pit lake, we predicted the interaction between algae and Sch when incubated together.

To elucidate the distribution law of the multiphase coupling slag discharge flow field in gas-lift reverse circulation during drilling shaft sinking, a numerical analysis model of gas-liquid-solid multiphase coupling slag discharge was established by CFD-DEM (Coupling of computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method) method, taking the drilling of North Wind well in Taohutu Coal Mine as an example. This model presented the distribution of the multiphase flow field in the slag discharge pipe and at the bottom hole, and was validated through experimentation and theoretical analysis. Finally, the impact of factors, including bit rotation speed, gas injection rate, air duct submergence ratio, and mud viscosity on the slag discharge flow field was clarified.
