Although heterogeneous Fenton-like processes have attracted widespread attention in wastewater treatment, the mass leached active ions lead to secondary pollution and confuse the demarcation of reaction region. By constructing a constrained completely heterogeneous system and highlighting its reaction region concentrated within the slipping plane of particles, this work achieves efficient organic pollutants degradation without leaching of any free active metal components. Based on the Poisson-Boltzmann equation and electric double layer model, the specific existing of the constrained region is confirmed, and this neglected reaction region between solid interface and slipping plane in traditional heterogeneous Fenton-like reaction is clarified firstly.

Microalgae are recognized for their potential in the bioremediation of acid mine drainage (AMD), despite the challenges posed by AMD's low pH, high heavy metal content, and oligotrophic conditions. However, the impact of AMD chemoautotrophic microorganisms on microalgal growth and remediation efforts within AMD has been largely overlooked. This study aims to elucidate the effects the chemoautotrophic microorganism, Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans, on the growth activity and metabolism of acid-tolerant microalgae, and to explore the molecular mechanisms of microalgal response.

The introduction of microplastics (MPs) into soil ecosystems via compost application has emerged as a critical environmental concern. However, the ecological risks and degradation behavior of MPs in compost remain insufficiently understood. This review addresses these gaps by synthesizing recent findings on MPs in composting systems, focusing on their sources, impacts on compost quality, ecological risks, and degradation mechanisms.

The kinetics of polyamide membrane degradation by free chlorine and halide ions (Br and Cl) were innovatively evaluated based on physicochemical properties and filtration performance, using water/solute permeability coefficient in addition to bromide incorporation as important indicators. The reaction rate constants for the reduced water and HBO permeability coefficient were 1-2 orders of magnitude higher at 0-1 h than 1-10 h. N-bromination and bromination-promoted hydrolysis are dominant degradation mechanisms at 0-1 h (reflected by the breakage of hydrogen bond, the increased Ca binding content, and the increased charge density), and ring-bromination further occurs at 1-10 h (reflected by the disappearance or weakening of aromatic amide band and the nearly constant hydrogen bond).

Polymers are composed of many smaller units connected by covalent bonds, with higher molecular weight and larger molecular structure. Due to their economical efficiency and easy modification, researchers have discovered the potential of polymers as the flotation reagent in mineral processing, including the roles of depressant, flocculant, and frother. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the utilization of polymers in mineral flotation, emphasizing their current applications and mechanistic investigations.

The coadsorption of anionic and cationic pollutants on adsorbents holds considerable importance in the development of relevant removal technologies and the understanding of pollutant transport in complex environmental media. Herein, tungsten (W), an emerging contaminant, and nickel (Ni) were chosen as two differently charged inorganic pollutants to investigate their removal characteristics on a magnesium-aluminum layered double hydroxide (LDH) prepared via microwave radiation. In the single systems, the amount of adsorbed W on LDH was initially increased and then decreased with increasing initial W concentration.

The widespread presence of microplastics (MPs) in drinking water systems and their risk of releasing additives have caused widespread concern. However, current research on the migration and risks of MPs and additives in the complete drinking water supply chain remains inadequate. In this study, micro-Raman spectrometer was used to track the entire transport process of MPs from the water source to the tap water, with concentrations ranging from 805 to 4960 items/L, and polyethylene and Polyethylene terephthalate were dominant.

Introduction: The current study aimed to examine the moderated mediation between perceived social support, the deviant behavior of new street corner youth on campus (NSCYC), interpersonal needs (as a mediator), and meaning in life (as a moderator).
Methods: A total of 596 new street corner youth on campus were investigated using the Deviant Behavior Questionnaire, Perceived Social Support Scale, Interpersonal Needs Questionnaire, and Meaning in Life Questionnaire.
Results: The findings showed that: (1) perceived social support significantly and negatively predicted deviant behavior; (2) interpersonal needs mediated the association between perceived social support and deviant behavior; and (3) a moderated mediating role of perceived social support influencing deviant behavior was established, with meaning in life regulating both the direct and the first half paths of the model.

Commercial induction cooktops are increasingly gaining popularity in residential households and business restaurants. However, little is known about the specific environmental benefits of induction cooking compared to conventional gas cooking. This study used two heating methods to heat peanut oil to achieve the same heating effect, and compared particulate matter, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), ozone precursors, and total carbon emissions generated during the heating process using various detection devices.

17β-estradiol (E2) is one of the strongest environmental estrogens threatening wildlife and human health globally. Microbial degradation is an alternative strategy to remediate E2-contaminated sites and may be regulated by ubiquitous Fe(III) in eco-environments. We have previously obtained a high-efficiency E2 degrader, sp.

The coupling effect between slurry and a fractured rock layer controls the width of the fracturing channel and the grouting pressure. This effect is attenuated as the slurry diffusion front spreads from the grouting hole. This study examined the motion of slurry and the fracture expansion process, thereby establishing a longitudinal grout-splitting model of slurry-rock coupling by deriving a slurry-splitting diffusion motion equation that considers the time-varying viscosity of the slurry and attenuation of the fracture width.

Zinc-containing dust (ZCD) has received extensive attention because it is a hazardous waste rich in various metals. This study innovatively proposed a hybrid acid leaching agent based on malic acid (MA) and sulfuric acid to selectively extract Zn from ZCD and successfully prepare nano-ZnO materials. The leaching experiments show that among the combinations of various organic acids and sulfuric acid, MA and sulfuric acid are superior in the selective leaching of Zn.

The application of peracetic acid (PAA) in the advanced oxidation process has been demonstrated to be an effective approach for treating aqueous organic pollutants. In this study, it is the first time that biogas residue biochar (BRBC) derived from sludge anaerobic digestion plants was prepared and used as a PAA activator for sulfamethoxazole (SMX) degradation. The optimal SMX removal could achieve 92 % within 120 min under acidic conditions.

Methanogenic archaea are known to play a crucial role in the biogeochemical cycling of arsenic (As); however, the molecular basis of As transformation mediated by methanogenic archaea remains poorly understood. Herein, the characterization of the redox transformation and methylation of As by , a model methanogenic archaeon, is reported. was demonstrated to mediate As(V) reduction via a cytoplasmic As reductase (ArsC) in the exponential phase of methanogenic growth and to methylate As(III) via a cytoplasmic As(III) methyltransferase (ArsM) in the stationary phase.
