Background: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that place a huge economic and emotional burden on society. Salidroside (Sal) has been reported to have therapeutic effects in a variety of neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease (PD), however no studies have been conducted to show whether salidroside is effective in ASD. Pyroptosis is involved in the pathology of a variety of neurological disorders, but has not been reported in ASD.

Background And Aims: Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is a hereditary retinal disorder that gradually leads to vision loss due to photoreceptor cell degeneration. This study aims to investigate the clinical features and genetic underpinnings of RP within a large Iranian family. Our focus centered on mutations in the NR2E3 gene, which plays a critical role in the development and maintenance of the retina.

Excellent biocompatibility of liquid metals is the basis for developing biomedical applications, such as implantable devices, drug delivery, and tumor therapy. Especially, a systematic study to reveal the influence of gallium-based liquid metals on the composition of blood while they are used in the human body is vital but missing. Here, the compatibility of three kinds of frequently used gallium-based liquid metals with human blood and serum was explored systematically.

This study focused on examining the protection of QiShenYiQi dripping pills (QSYQ) against myocardial infarction (MI) and investigating its potential mechanisms. Ultra high performance liquid chromatography-q exactive-orbitrap high resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-Orbitrap HRMS) was employed to analyze potential active compounds of QSYQ. The targets of these compounds were predicted using an integrated method and cross-referenced with relevant databases to identify associated pathways.

Polysaccharides are ubiquitous in nature, typically harmless, and highly compatible with various tissues in biomedical contexts. These properties make them attractive for use in multifunctional materials. In this study, the aggregation-induced emission (AIE) antibacterial material (PLOCMC) was successfully synthesized by carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and ε-Poly-Lysine (ε-PL).

Objective: To investigate brain injury (BI) associations' perspectives regarding the impacts of the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic on individuals with BI and BI associations services across Canada.
Methods: This qualitative descriptive study included 26 representatives of Canadian BI associations that participated in six online focus groups to discuss the effects of the second year of the pandemic on clients living with BI and on the provision of community services.
Results: Findings revealed three main themes: 1) ongoing pandemic-related challenges faced by clients living with BI, including worsening mental health and basic needs insecurities, difficulties faced by clients in adhering to safety measures, and ongoing technological issues; 2) ongoing adaptations to accommodate clients' needs, including offering tailored services, ensuring consistent and transparent safety measures, and providing hybrid services; and 3) developing a sustainable 'new normal' aligned with association mandates and resources by expanding networks and building resilience.

Background: This study aims to describe the main type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) quality improvement (QI) challenges identified by primary care teams in the province of Quebec who participated in the COMPAS + QI collaborative.
Methods: A qualitative descriptive design was used to analyse the results of 8 COMPAS + workshops conducted in 4 regions of the province between 2016 and 2020. Deductive content analysis was performed to classify the reported QI priorities under the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research domains; and proposed change strategies under the Behavior Change Wheel (BCW) intervention functions.

Background: Older adults with Benign Paroxysmal Positioning Vertigo (BPPV) may present with unsteadiness that affects gait patterns.
Objective: This study investigated the spatiotemporal gait parameters and indicators of turning difficulty during the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test in older adults with BPPV.
Methods: This case-controlled study collected data from older adults aged 65 and above with BPPV, young adults with BPPV and older adults without BPPV.

The objective of this study was to reveal the effectiveness of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for Japanese patients with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) in clinical practice, based on real-world data from a nationwide multicenter observational study in Japan. Clinical data of patients with TRD treated with rTMS (NeuroStar TMS treatment system) under public insurance coverage were retrospectively collected from 21 institutes nationwide between June 2019 and December 2023. Depression severity was assessed by the 17-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD-17).

The purpose of this paper is to describe a protocol for a systematic review (SR) and meta-analysis examining the associations between an episode of COVID-19 and trajectory as well as the risk of frailty. The protocol for this SR has been registered in the PROSPERO database (CRD42023468297) and conforms to the guidelines proposed by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews (PRISMA). The search strategy will involve retrieving literature from six different databases and will be guided by keywords encompassing population (community-dwelling or institution-dwelling adults), exposure (episode of COVID-19), and outcome (frailty).

Background: Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and patient-reported experience measures (PREMs) are becoming essential parts of a learning health system, and using these measures is a promising approach for value-based healthcare. However, evidence regarding healthcare professional and patient organizations' knowledge, use and perception of PROMs and PREMs is lacking.
Objectives: The objectives of the study were to: 1- Describe the current knowledge and use of PROMs and PREMs by healthcare professional and patient organizations, 2- Describe the determinants of PROMs and PREMs implementation according to healthcare professional and patient organizations.

Background: Over 50% of individuals with aphasia face ongoing word-finding issues. Studies have found phonologically oriented therapy helpful for English speakers, but this has not yet been studied in French. It is essential to assess the effectiveness of such a therapy in French, considering the distinct linguistic typologies between both languages, which may impact the outcomes of phonologically oriented interventions.

Background: Conventional rehabilitation approaches involve therapists simulating various occupational tasks in health care settings or recreating real-life situations to assess and train patients in instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs). As an alternative, immersive virtual reality (IVR) has been widely used in stroke rehabilitation for years, but research comparing occupational performance between virtual and real environments is limited.
Objective: This study aims to introduce a novel IVR shopping system designed for patients with stroke and to investigate the correlation of occupational performance in virtual and real environments among patients with stroke.

Background: Physiotherapy is effective to reduce pain and improve the quality of life of people living with chronic pain. To offer high-quality physiotherapy services, these services must be patient-centred and respond to patients' needs. However, few studies seem to target patients' perceived needs, whereas more studies tend to focus on needs assessed by healthcare experts, which are not always in line with patients' perceived needs.
