This study investigated alterations in functional connectivity (FC) within cortico-basal ganglia-thalamo-cortical (CBTC) circuits and identified critical connections influencing poststroke motor recovery, offering insights into optimizing brain modulation strategies to address the limitations of traditional single-target stimulation. We delineated individual-specific parallel loops of CBTC through probabilistic tracking and voxel connectivity profiles-based segmentation and calculated FC values in poststroke patients and healthy controls, comparing with conventional atlas-based FC calculation. Support vector machine (SVM) analysis distinguished poststroke patients from controls.

Background: The Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) questionnaires are commonly used to measure global cognition in clinical trials. Because these scales are discrete and bounded with ceiling and floor effects and highly skewed, their analysis as continuous outcomes presents challenges. Normality assumptions of linear regression models are usually violated, which may result in failure to detect associations with variables of interest.

Introduction: Health professions training programmes face increasing reports of professionalism lapses, which can delay, or end, trainee progression. How programmes respond to professionalism lapses to facilitate professional identity development has not been clarified. The objective of this study is to identify factors that facilitate and impair transformations around professionalism lapses in health professions training programmes.

Introduction: Partnering for Change (P4C) is an innovative practice model for school-based occupational therapy developed in Canada and informed by a program of research spanning nearly two decades. National and international interest in P4C necessitated development of an explanatory theory to guide implementation in varied contexts. The purpose of this study is to document the process of theory development and to provide an overview of the initial P4C explanatory theory.

Background: Transition from pediatric to adult health care varies and is resource intensive. Patient-centered health information technology (HIT) interventions are increasingly being developed in partnership with patients.
Objective: This study aims to develop an internet-based mobile app intervention for patients with brain-based disabilities to improve transition in care readiness.

Background: Stroke remains a leading cause of disability globally and movement impairment is the most common complication in stroke patients. Resting-state electroencephalography (EEG) microstate analysis is a non-invasive approach of whole-brain imaging based on the spatiotemporal pattern of the entire cerebral cortex. The present study aims to investigate microstate alterations in stroke patients.

Background: Belonging is closely associated with well-being, yet individuals with experiences of being unhoused are likely to experience social exclusion and challenges with developing a sense of belonging. Engagement in meaningful activity has been linked to belonging; however, there are no focused studies exploring experiences of how engaging in meaningful activities influences belonging. Meaningful activities are things we do that bring value to our lives.

Background: Dietary factors are among the largest and costliest drivers of chronic diseases in England. As a response, the government implements a range of population interventions to promote healthy diets by targeting food environments.
Objectives: This study aimed to conduct a systematic review of the effectiveness, cost-effectiveness and policy process of real-world evaluations of national and state policies on improving food environments, with a focus on whether they were regulatory, voluntary or partnership approaches.

Context: There is uncertainty whether acetaminophen and ibuprofen are similar in their effects and safety when used as single or dual (alternating or combined) therapies.
Objective: To assess the comparative efficacy of acetaminophen, ibuprofen alone, alternating, or combined through a systematic review and network meta-analysis.

Purpose: Physical rehabilitation (PR) in the intensive care unit (ICU) may improve outcomes for survivors but clinical trial results have been discordant. We hypothesized that discordant results may reflect treatment heterogeneity received by "usual care" comparator groups in PR studies. Usual-care PR is typically underspecified, which is a barrier to comparing results across treatment studies.

Background The Credibility Expectancy Questionnaire (CEQ) includes three items each on the credibility and expectancy subscales. Credibility indicates to what extent the treatment is reasonable, and expectancy indicates to what extent the treatment is expected to be effective. The CEQ has been assumed to have a two-factor structure: credibility and expectancy, among patients receiving psychotherapy.

Traditional kinesiology tape (KT) is an elastic fabric tape that clinicians and sports trainers widely use for managing ankle sprains. However, inadequate mechanical properties, adhesive strength, water resistance, and micro-damage generation could affect the longevity of the tape on the skin during physical activity and sweating. Therefore, autonomous room-temperature self-healing elastomers with robust mechanical properties and adequate adhesion to the skin are highly desirable to replace traditional KT.

Network Meta-analysis (NMA) is an advanced statistical method that combines direct evidence (ie, from head-to-head comparisons) and indirect evidence (ie, estimated from the direct available evidence) to obtain network estimates. NMAs are helpful to determine the comparative effectiveness of interventions that have not been directly compared and may provide more precise estimates for those comparisons that have been directly compared. NMA provides hierarchies which can be helpful for decision-making, much more in scenarios when multiple interventions exist for the same indication.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of 8 wk of no intervention (CON), lower limb heat therapy (HEAT), moderate-intensity exercise training (EX), or combined training and therapy (HEATEX) in young, healthy recreationally active adults.
Methods: Sixty participants (23 ± 3 yr, 30 females) were randomly allocated into CON ( n = 15), HEAT ( n = 15), EX ( n = 14), or HEATEX ( n = 16). The primary outcome was vascular function, assessed through brachial artery flow-mediated dilation tests.

Background: Effective transitions of patients from Secondary Care Services (SCSs) to primary care are necessary for optimization of resources and care. Factors that enable or restrict smooth transitions of individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) to primary care from SCSs have not been comprehensively synthesized.
Methods: A scoping review was conducted to answer the questions (1) "What are the barriers and facilitators to discharge from SCSs to primary care for adults with SMI?" and (2) "What programs have been developed to support these transitions?".

Objective: The objective of this scoping review is to identify strategies in the literature that may increase the accessibility of health professional programs for students with disabilities.
Introduction: The number of students with disabilities in health professional programs is increasing. However, since students with disabilities experience barriers to education, their retention rates are potentially lower and their attrition rates are potentially higher compared with their non-disabled peers.

Introduction: A variety of techniques for measuring finger range of motion (ROM) are available for hand therapist use, however, there is no clear description of which finger ROM methods are preferred in practice. This study explored the preferred measurement techniques, the factors influencing clinical decision-making, and the clinical reasoning processes employed when faced with practice-based measurement scenarios.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional online survey study of hand therapists and American or Canadian Society of Hand Therapists members.
