Complementary and integrative health (CIH) therapies are widely used and make up billions of dollars in out-of-pocket expenditures. This quality improvement project aimed to identify stakeholders' perceptions of implementing CIH therapies in health care systems to examine the barriers and facilitators to CIH implementation in Rhode Island (RI). A qualitative approach guided by the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) was used to conduct interviews with key stakeholder groups: health care administrators, health insurance administrators, physicians, and CIH practitioners.

Introduction: Smoking cessation interventions delivered through mobile technologies offer promise as an effective intervention tool. However, most existing programs have not been empirically tested, were not developed with end-user participation, and/or do not address evidence-based cognitive and behavioral variables shown to enhance smoking cessation in clinical trials. In addition, many programs tested in research trials have required users to access the internet and/or a smartphone app to access all program features, limiting the potential reach of those programs.

Objective: Validation of a symptom measure for early knee OA may help identify new treatments and modifiable risk factors. Symptom measures that consider pain in the context of activity level may provide better discrimination than pain alone. Therefore, we aimed to compare sensitivity to change for radiographic progression between Ambulation Adjusted Score for Knee pain (AASK), which accounts for self-reported ambulation, and Western Ontario McMaster Osteoarthritis (WOMAC) knee pain score.

Background: The higher risk of heart failure (HF) in African-American and Hispanic women compared with white women is related to the higher burden of risk factors (RFs) in minorities. However, it is unclear if there are differences in the association between the number of RFs for HF and the risk of development of HF and death within racial/ethnic groups.

Methods And Results: In the WHI (Women's Health Initiative; 1993-2010), African-American (n=11 996), white (n=18 479), and Hispanic (n=5096) women with 1, 2, or 3+ baseline RFs were compared with women with 0 RF within their respective racial/ethnic groups to assess risk of developing HF or all-cause mortality before and after HF, using survival analyses.
