Methods: Single-factor and Box-Behnken experiments were conducted to optimize the formulation of CA7-loaded liposomes (CA7-LP). The in vitro release, stability, biocompatibility, and pharmacokinetic of CA7-LP were evaluated.

Purpose: The early stage of this study verified that a turmeric extract (TUR) including 59% curcumin (CU), 22% demethoxycurcumin (DMC), and 18% bisdemethoxycurcumin (BDMC), could enhance the stability of CU and had greater antidepressant potential in vitro. The objective of the study was to develop a nano-delivery system containing TUR (TUR-NE) to improve the pharmacokinetic behavior of TUR and enhance its antidepressant effect.
Methods: The antidepressant potential of TUR was explored using ABTS, oxidative stress-induced cell injury, and a high-throughput screening model.

Carbon dots (CDs), a crucial component of nanomaterials, are zero-dimensional nanomaterials with carbon as the backbone structure and smaller than 10 nm. Due to their beneficial characteristics, they are widely used in biomedical fields such as biosensors, drug delivery, bio-imaging, and interactions with DNA. Purpose: The present study aimed to construct a co-loading platform encapsulating curcumin and paclitaxel at ratios of 2:1-80:1 (w/w) designated "CU-PTX-LNP" and explored the synergistic effects of CU-PTX at different composite proportions on liver cancer cells using the combination index (CI) method.
Methods: The CU lipid nanoplatform (CU-LNP) formulation was optimized via single-factor and orthogonal experiments. Various concentrations of PTX were added to the optimal formulation of CU-LNP to generate CU-PTX-LNP and the nanoplatform characterized via differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), zeta potential, polydispersity index (PDI), and size analyses.

Depression is a common mental illness, which is related to monoamine neurotransmitters and the dysfunction of the cholinergic, immune, glutamatergic, and neuroendocrine systems. The hypothesis of monoamine neurotransmitters is one of the commonly recognized pathogenic mechanisms of depression; however, the drugs designed based on this hypothesis have not achieved good clinical results. A recent study demonstrated that depression and inflammation were strongly correlated, and the activation of alpha7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7 nAChR)-mediated cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway (CAP) in the cholinergic system exhibited good therapeutic effects against depression.

Carbonic acid 17-(1,5-dimethyl-hexyl)-10,13-dimethyl-2,3,4,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17-tetradecahydro-1H-cyclopenta[a]phenanthren-3-yl ester 4-[7-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-phenyl)-3,5-dioxo-hepta-1,6-dienyl]-2-methoxy-phenyl ester (CUD), as a small molecule derivative of Cur with superior stability, has been developed in our laboratory.
Objective: CUD-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles (CUD-SLN) were prepared to prolong the duration of the drug action of Cur.

A pyridine containing BINOL-based aldehyde ()- or ()- is found to show highly enantioselective fluorescent response toward phenylglycinol in the presence of Zn. A chirality matched dimeric BINOL-imine-Zn(II) complex is isolated from the reaction of ()- with l-phenylglycinol and Zn whose structure is established by X-ray analysis. Comparison of the structure of this SS-complex with a molecular modeling structure of the chirality mismatched SR-complex generated from the reaction of ()- with d-phenylglycinol has provided important insight into the origin of the observed highly enantioselective fluorescent response.

A detailed investigation was conducted on the reaction of a 1,1'-bi-2-naphthol-coumarin-based fluorescent probe with amino acids. On the basis of the studies, including fluorescence spectroscopy, H NMR, UV-vis, mass spectroscopy, single-crystal X-ray analysis, and molecular modeling, it was found that the distinctively different fluorescent responses of the probe toward the amino acid at the two excitation wavelengths are due to two different reaction pathways that generate different intermediates and products.

Colorectal peritoneal carcinomatosis (CRPC) is an advanced stage of colorectal cancer (CRC), which significantly decreases patient survival and quality of life. Here, the naturally occurring polysaccharide hyaluronic acid (HA) was used to prepare an injectable hydrogel and simultaneously deliver 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), cisplatin (DDP) and paclitaxel (PTX) microspheres for intraperitoneal CRPC chemotherapy. The drug-loaded HA hydrogel released the drugs in a sustained manner, and showed low toxicity both in vitro and in a mouse model of CRPC.

Postoperative adhesions are the most common complications of peri-abdominal surgery; they not only affect the patient's quality of life but also increase the risk of a subsequent surgery. The use of implantable dressings to physically block surgical wounds is the primary solution to prevent postoperative adhesions. In this study, we prepared naproxen nanoparticles that were loaded with chitosan hydrogel (CS/Nap hydrogel) to prevent postoperative adhesions.
