Effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction on Mental Health and Psychological Quality of Life among University Students: A GRADE-Assessed Systematic Review.

Background: Psychological distress is a progressive health problem that has been linked to decreased quality of life among university students. This meta-analysis reviews existing randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that have examined the effects of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) on the relief of psychosomatic stress-related outcomes and quality of life among university students.

Methods: The PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, PsycINFO (formerly PsychLit), Ovid MEDLINE, ERIC, Scopus, Google Scholar, ProQuest, and Cochrane Library databases were searched in November 2023 to identify the RCTs for analysis.

Efficacy of hydrodilatation in frozen shoulder: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Introduction: It is unclear whether hydrodilatation is beneficial in the management of frozen shoulder compared with other common conservative management modalities. This systematic review evaluates the efficacy of hydrodilatation for the management of frozen shoulder.

Sources Of Data: A systematic review was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines.

Chronic quadriceps tendon rupture: quadriceps tendon reconstruction using ipsilateral semitendinosus tendon graft.

Ruptures of the quadriceps tendon (QTRs) are uncommon. If the rupture is not diagnosed, chronic ruptures may develop. Re-ruptures of the quadriceps tendon are rare.

Minimally invasive fasciotomy for symptomatic tibialis anterior muscle hernia.

Background: Symptomatic muscle herniae are an uncommon cause of chronic exercise induced leg pain. The most common site for muscle hernia is the tibialis anterior muscle. This study evaluates the outcome of a minimal incision fasciotomy in patients with a symptomatic muscle hernia of the tibialis anterior muscle, and their return to normal daily activities including sport.

Outcomes and complications of the reamer irrigator aspirator versus traditional iliac crest bone graft harvesting: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: The reamer irrigator aspirator (RIA) is a relatively recent device that is placed in the medullary canal of long bones to harvest a large volume of bone marrow, which is collected in a filtered canister. This study compares outcomes and complications of the RIA versus a traditional iliac crest bone graft (ICBG) for the treatment of bone defects.

Methods: This meta-analysis was conducted according to the PRISMA guidelines.

Complex ruptures of the quadriceps tendon: a systematic review of surgical procedures and outcomes.

Background: Chronic ruptures, ruptures following total knee arthroplasty (TKA), and re-ruptures of the quadriceps tendon (QT) are rare. A systematic review of the current literature was conducted on their treatment and outcome to provide evidence-based indications for their management.

Methods: We searched published articles in English on chronic ruptures of QT, QT ruptures that occurred after TKA, and re-ruptures in PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar up to January 2021.

New 5-(nitroheteroaryl)-1,3,4-thiadiazols containing acyclic amines at C-2: synthesis and SAR study for their antileishmanial activity.

A novel series of 5-(5-nitrofuran-2-yl)-and 5-(5-nitrothiophen-2-yl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-amines bearing acyclic amine at C-2 position of thiadiazole ring were synthesized and evaluated in vitro against promastigote and amastigote forms of Leishmania major. The structure-activity of series was investigated by studying 40 compounds. The most active derivatives were hydroxypropylamino- and methoxypropylamino- analogs of 5-(5-nitrothiophen-2-yl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole (compounds 29 and 32, respectively) with highest selectivity index (SI >12).

Synthesis and antileishmanial activity of novel 5-(5-nitrofuran-2-y1)-1,3,4-thiadiazoles with piperazinyl-linked benzamidine substituents.

In order to optimize the antileishmanial activity of piperazinyl-linked 5-(5-nitrofuran-2-yl)-1,3,4-thiadiazoles, we synthesized a series of 5-(5-nitrofuran-2-y1)-1,3,4-thiadiazoles with piperazinyl-linked benzamidine substituent as scaffold found in pentamidine related antiprotozoals. The structure of target compounds was confirmed by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and Mass spectral data. All compounds were tested for in vitro activity against the promastigote and amastigote forms of Leishmania major.

The prevalence of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae among clinical isolates from a general hospital in Iran.

This study was conducted at a 900+ bed general teaching hospital, from May to September 2007, in Iran. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae and their antimicrobial pattern. The Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method and the phenotypic disk confirmatory test were performed for each isolate.
