Objective: Sports-related concussions (SRCs) are commonly occurring injuries among athletic and recreationally active populations. SRCs can result in vestibular dysfunction that should resolve before returning to activity. It has been suggested that vestibular impairment is a factor that may influence recovery time.

Substance use disorders (SUDs) represent one of the leading causes of preventable death in the setting of overdose and comorbidities leading to mortality. A multi-database literature search limited to peer-reviewed articles within the last 10 years was conducted to compare treatment modalities used to treat SUDs. This literature review aims to provide a concise yet comprehensive summary of the various treatment modalities that exist to address these disorders in clinical practice.

Context: Athletic trainers (ATs) are in a unique position to mitigate the negative impact of social determinants of health (SDH) in their patients. In the secondary school setting, understanding common SDH may inform strategies that reduce these impacts. However, little is known about the types of SDH that ATs observe in patients in this setting.

This study aimed to evaluate the incidence and potential predictors of treatment failure with this approach.
Methodology: A retrospective observational study was conducted between September 2014 and November 2016 in a mixed intensive care unit.

Background: Early initiation of prenatal care is widely accepted to improve the health outcomes of pregnancy for both mothers and their infants. Identification of the various barriers to entry into care that patients experience may inform and improve health care provision and, in turn, improve the patient's ability to receive necessary care.
Aim: This study implements a mixed-methods approach to establish methods and procedures for identifying barriers to early entry to prenatal care in a medically-vulnerable patient population and areas for future quality improvement initiatives.

Current clinical guidelines recommend observation over topical intranasal corticosteroids for Eustachian tube dysfunction management, which remains controversial. This study aimed to systematically review randomised, controlled trials assessing topical intranasal corticosteroid efficacy in Eustachian tube dysfunction, and analyse effect through tympanometric normalisation.

Context: Medical disqualification (MDQ) following concussion is a challenging decision clinicians may encounter with little evidence-based guidance.
Objective: To (1) describe the MDQ following concussion cases athletic trainers (ATs) have been involved in, (2) describe beliefs about MDQ following concussion, and (3) explore factors that ATs believed should be involved in the MDQ following concussion process.
Design: Mixed methods.

Context: Assessment of sport-related concussion (SRC) has begun to include patient-reported outcome measures. However, understanding of which health limitations are most meaningful to adolescents after SRC is limited.
Objective: To explore patient-perceived activity limitations after SRC and throughout recovery to return to play and mapped according to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) model.

Cardiac tumors (CTs) and intracardiac masses are rare, with an incidence of 1 per 2 million people annually. We present a case of an intracardiac mass where the patient exhibited progressive lower extremity swelling, night sweats, and diarrhea. Computed tomography of the chest with intravenous contrast revealed a sizable intracardiac mass with mixed attenuation and signs of metastatic lesions, suggesting a malignant process.

Choline plays many important roles, including the synthesis of acetylcholine, and may affect muscle responses to exercise. We previously observed correlations between low choline intake and reduced gains in strength and lean mass following a 12-week resistance exercise training (RET) program for older adults. To further explore these findings, we conducted a randomized controlled trial.

During development, the deletion of DNA from chromosome 13's short arm (q) causes a chromosomal abnormality known as chromosome 13q deletion syndrome. Chromosome 13 terminal deletions are rare and may cause various congenital disabilities, and only a few cases have been reported in the literature. The extent of chromosome 13q deletion syndrome changes lacks consistent clinical features, with no recorded cases of genital ambiguity until now.

Background: Stress reactivity (SR) is associated with increased risk of flares in ulcerative colitis (UC) patients. Because both preclinical and clinical data support that stress can influence gut microbiome composition and function, we investigated whether microbiome profiles of SR exist in UC.
Methods: Ninety-one UC subjects in clinical and biochemical remission were classified into high and low SR groups by questionnaires.
