Background: Acute pancreatitis (AP), as a common acute abdomen disease, has a high incidence rate worldwide and is often accompanied by severe complications. Negative emotions lead to increased secretion of stress hormones, elevated blood sugar levels, and enhanced insulin resistance, which in turn increases the risk of AP and significantly affects the patient's quality of life. Therefore, exploring the intervention effects of narrative nursing programs on the negative emotions of patients with AP is not only helpful in alleviating psychological stress and improving quality of life but also has significant implications for improving disease outcomes and prognosis.

Eccentric contractions (ECC) are accompanied by the accumulation of intracellular calcium ions ([Ca]) and induce skeletal muscle damage. Suppressed muscle damage in repeated bouts of ECC is well characterized; however, whether it is mediated by altered Ca profiles remains unknown. We tested the hypothesis that repeated ECC suppresses Ca accumulation via adaptations in Ca regulation.

Terpenes are natural secondary metabolites with isoprene as the basic structural unit; they are widely found in nature and have potential applications as advanced fuels, pharmaceutical ingredients, and agricultural chemicals. However, traditional methods are inefficient for obtaining terpenes because of complex processes, low yields, and environmental unfriendliness. The unconventional oleaginous yeast , with a clear genetic background and complete gene editing tools, has attracted increasing attention for terpenoid synthesis.

As a neurodegenerative disease closely related to age-related changes, Alzheimer's disease (AD) is rapidly becoming one of the most resource-intensive and deadly diseases of this century. As a systemic neurotransmitter system with widespread distribution throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems, the 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) system not only plays an important role in antidepressant therapy but also shows potential value in improving AD symptoms. The 5-HT system may facilitate the prevention and treatment of AD by impacting its pathological processes through various pathways, such as the regulation of Aβ deposition, hyperphosphorylation of Tau, central and peripheral neuroinflammation, and the interactions with the cholinergic and BDNF systems.

Background: Infertility is a common problem for patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which is closely related to stress and raises the risk of depression, while psychological resilience has been revealed to be protective for mental health. However, the associations of fertility stress, psychological resilience, and depressive symptoms in individuals with PCOS are not thoroughly explored. Our study aims to examine the associations of fertility stress and psychological resilience with depressive symptoms among patients with PCOS, as well as the mediating role of psychological resilience.

Background: Movements to raise lower garments in patients with stroke and hemiplegia consist of downward reach, non-paretic-side manipulation, and paretic-side manipulation. In this study, we focused on paretic-side manipulation, which is particularly difficult, and investigated the factors that make it challenging.
Methods: Forty-eight patients with stroke and hemiplegia (23 and 25 patients in independent and dependent groups, respectively) participated in this study.
